Can't communicate with meteobridge on mr3020

Post by johnn »

I had meteobridge running just fine with my mr3020 and a WMR88, but I only had a powered USB2 hub.
While swapping to an unpowered hub I cycled the power. From this point, even though the MR3020 seems to go through the usual boot sequence, it is no longer talking to Weather Underground, and I cannot connect to it's configuration screens.

No matter how long I wait, when I connect to the mr3020's IP addr I may get to login, but then I get a black screen with "Meteobridge (Click to start manually)", and whether I click or wait I never get any further.

I can connect to "http://10.1.1.27/cgi-bin/luci", and have tried re-flashing. This got me the meteobridge interface running again, but it was very slow, and once I got as far as entering the Weather Underground details it stopped responding again.

(I doesn't matter which hub I use.)

So really, nothing more than re-booting on the 19th of October has stopped this working. Suggestions please :?

Can you reach the meteobridge web interface?
When web interface being slow this mostly is a result of weak wifi connection. Are you on Wifi?

It is the meteobridge web interface that I can't reach. I can access the openwrt web interface OK (which is how I re-flashed).

This is all done using an Ethernet wired network.

I usually end up with "The CGI process did not produce any response" and a white screen.

When you reflash with firmware 1.4 it should definitely restat again fine.
Only thing that might go wrong is a conflicting ip address in your lan.

Thanks for this suggestion. I was unable to find a conflict on the existing ip address, but I asked the router to assign a different one and have had more success. However the interface still seems slow.
I can access most of the tabs, and seem to be communicating with the WMR88 OK. However the wizard wants me to go to the System Tab, and this always times out. WU says I am still not reporting... :(

Please give reflashing a chance.

I have reflashed three times now, and it has the same result as doing a Full Reset (5th flash).

I get access to the web interface, so I go through the wizard to set things up again. When I try and get on the System Tab it times out. All the other tabs are accessible.

On the Live Data Tab is current data, and the message:

"2015-10-23 09:41:35 Error: wget: unable to resolve host address 'weatherstation.wunderground.com' (5 more tries)"

As I can't get to the System Tab I cannot finish setting up.

It's a puzzle! Once the device becomes logged out again, I loose access to the web interface entirely.

Thanks for your attention. I'm sure it is all my fault, but cannot see what I have done wrong (especially as it was working just fine for days before a reboot)!

I think there is simply a problem with dns resolution.

I can offer to login to your meteobridge remotely. This describes how to do it:

Please send URL and password to "info(at)meteobridge.com".

Unfortunately, as I cannot access the System Tab, I cannot enable remote access. Sorry, thank you for the offer!

With the thought that there might be a dns issue, I tried setting a fixed ip address, but the problem stays the same.

...which is...
After a full reset I can access the setup wizard, setting all the configuration until I need to go to the System tab, at which point the web interface times out.
The interface seems rather slow.
I can click on the other tabs, such as 'Live Data', and see that the data is coming in from the WMR88, but communications with the weather underground site are failing.

Presumably because I haven't been to the System Tab?

I can ping http://weatherstation.wunderground.com/ OK from this LAN, but meteobridge cannot access it.

...in fact, I can send a manual update from my PC, so if the meteobridge is failing to get an update in it may be because it's timezone is not set (on the System tab)?

So what can be stopping the System tab displaying?

I don't know much about IP and networking at this level, but when I capture packets which reference the MR3020 (in wireshark), after I attempt to access meteobridge all I get is lots of [Keep-Alive]/[Keep-Alive ACK] pairs in rapid sequence (aside from the initial TCP and HTML.

This is [Keep-Alive] from the mr3020 (10.1.1.35) , [Keep-Alive ACK] from my PC (10.1.1.33).
Line 1 is whene I entered 10.1.1.35, line 30 is when I clicked on the link on the black screen.

Any clues here?
