Can you repair mine as well?admin wrote: Wed Jul 22, 2026 9:57 am Thanks, that proves the internal USB hub chip needs replacement. I can do the repair (including change of OLED) for 50 Euro. When you are in EU shipping back is on my cost. If you are outside EU we should pm: info@smartgedded.com

Re: MB Pro Red hanging about once amonth
Mine does seem to be more stable after disabling SMB.
Mine as well… only had one crash so far

just died again :|

Re: MB Pro Red hanging about once amonth
More an more features were added over time, so RAM might go a bit low on certain conditions. SMB takes a lot of RAM, so disabling it might help. If not, we know at least that this is not the reason ;-)
Mine is still crashing despite disabling SMB
I updated the firmware this morning, and then ...

Re: MB Pro Red hanging about once amonth
Mine did also hang last evening, but the unit managed to recover by itself in the morning. The health graphs were empty all night. However the RF reception from my Davis station didn’t recover before I restarted it.

Re: MB Pro Red hanging about once amonth
So mine just crashed again... Hour before CPU was peaking at 169%.
So as I understand CPU should not have hour peaks like this?

Re: MB Pro Red hanging about once amonth
I'm glad to see my MB is not a sole case, but regret you have similar issues. It's very annoying because data isn't captured and uploads fail. Boris had a look, logged on to my MB and the only unusual he noted was that the MB CPU-% spikes every full hour to 200+ values. To see that for your MB, go ...

Re: MB Pro Red hanging about once amonth
Random thought, is something spiking memory use and the OOM killer is killing everything?
If the MB was connected via wired Ethernet then ping would likely still work, and that would be a useful diagnostic. (If ping were to fail then that would indicate that the unit is hitting a kernel oops or ...

Re: MB Pro Red hanging about once amonth
Did you solve your problem?
My MBP is doing the same thing - suddenly unresponsive and upper led flashing slowly. Mine is connected with ethernet, and pings just timeout.

Re: MBP red cap unreliable
So yesterday it became unresponsive again. The upper led light was flashing red.
After som power cycles I made it boot again with the same psu.
As I read from the manual the MBP was shipped with a PSU. Did it ship a raspberry pi PSU?

Re: MBP red cap unreliable
There's nothing visually obvious with the USB stick.
Power Data? V/mA are up a little but not sure if any bearing? My MB Reds are 5.30V 396mA 2.1W & 5.34V 429mA 2.29W so probably nothing of importance?
As far as I remember the RPI PSU is 5.5v. I’ve been using the same PSU since the MBP was new ...

Re: MBP red cap unreliable
The Lic# (mbpro-xxxxx) can you give you an idea of of how old the unit is?
What does the Storage say under the Information tab>System?
So the data still comes in ok but the unit itself is crashing/rebooting/not powering up properly?
Thanks for reply
LIC is 00188

MBP red cap unreliable
Hi
My old red cap MBP has been running for many years. I think mine is one of the first ones out there.
The internal storage was replaced pretty fast with a ATP NAND DURA 1GB.
This year I had two crashes - the last one today. The device became unresponsive on network and power cycle did help ...

Re: Lost WIFI connection
I don’t know if it’s the same problem, but WiFi oon my MBP is unreliable.
Recently I made changes on my local network cabling, and started to run my MBP on WiFi. Before with cable, I had zero problems, but now and then the MBP gets unreachable. It’s still running, and collecting weather data, but ...

Re: FTP webcam upload stops
Thanks, I am investigating this. I am not yet completely on it, but it looks like the cam picture sometines does not pass the test if it is of true jpeg or png type. If this test fails further processing is halted. Stay tuned...
Thanks for looking in to this...
