How can I compensate for indoor temp readings when using a NANO

Davis consoles have the indoor temperature sensor located inside the console. Consequence is that the sensor collects some heat from the surrounding electronic. Users have reported in the past that when the LCD back light of the console is switched on for a longer time that indoor temperature readings go up a bit. Using the Davis IP logger does also increase the indoor temperature values and using the more powerful Meteobridge NANO is in the same category and it does add even more than the back light or a simple IP logger. This is something that cannot be avoided given the design of the console.

In order to have the users to easily compensate for that, Meteobridge NANO allows to set an indoor temperature correction on the Meteobridge web interface (tab "Weather Station", optional menu "configure console"). The attached picture shows where to enter a correction value to be added to the data coming from the indoor sensor. You just have to apply this once, as it is stored in the console EEPROM and also affects the console display not just Meteobridge operation.

It is obvious, that a constant adder does not solve the issue perfectly, but when the console is powered up for a while adding a constant value should be good enough. During start-up there might of course be some overcompensation.

Before you get too outrage about that, please keep in mind the precise indoor temperature is a fine thing, but it does not really influence the weather measurement the console is primary meant for and that the Davis console is per design not well suited to do a great on indoor values.
