restart meteostick (330 secs no valid rf signal)

Post by plr256 » Mon Apr 02, 2018 7:09 pm

Some help please.

I just set up a new Meteobridge PRO with my Vantage Pro2 Plus station. Most things seem to be working fine but I keep getting the log message " restart meteostick (330 secs no valid rf signal)" (see copy of log below). It seems to reconnect itself but I end up with gaps in the data. This doesn't seem right since the MB-PRO is 10 feet from the VP2 with only a pane of glass between and the signal strength is generally in the -45 db range.

Ideas?

Try setting RF Sens to -80db

Thanks. Much better - only 2 restarts in 24 hours. I'll experiment with settings and locations as I try different places to finally install the VP2 and MBP.

When you say the MBPro is only 10 feet away from the VP2, are you referring to the VP2 ISS or the VP2 console? Note that you won't get he same range from the MBPro to ISS as will the Console to the ISS but what you can also do is re-transmit from the VP2 console and have the MBPro pick up the signal from the console (typical short distance) rather than the ISS (normally longer distance).

The 10 feet refers to the distance from the MBPro to the ISS. Is the ability to retransmit built into the VP2 console or do I need additional hardware or software? Also, is as much data retransmitted by the console as is transmitted directly by the ISS?

10 feet should not be a problem then. Re-transmit is an option with the VP2, just needs to be turned on and set a transmit ID# which is a different ID# than the ISS but basically "re-transmits" the ISS data.

That is strange, 10 feets is no distance at all. Can you allow me to login remotely?

Set the VP2 ISS on permanent mount outside window and above roof line, about 25 feet from MBPro. Signals are now in the mid to high -60dbs. Set RF Sens to -80db and have not had any restarts in 3 days. I'll want to relocate the MBPro to a more convenient location in the future and expect to have reception problems at further distances. If I do I'll try setting things up for the MBPro to receive data via VP2 console retransmit function rather than direct from the VP2 ISS.
