MB PRO RF | Clear all weather data and set a year rain total manually. **solved**

Post by websign »

Good morning,
I have paired my MB PRO RF with a new Davis ISS (in a new location).

Is there any way to clear all weather data from the MB PRO (only the weather data, not the connection or ftp settings)?

Would it also be possible to manually set the annual rainfall that I have measured up to now with the manual rain gauge?

Thanks so much for the support

Regards

Mauro

1. make a screen copy of your Settings --> events - save it on your PC (it's a useful backup in any case)
2. if you have more complex strings in the events, copy them (mark, CTRL-C) and paste them into a text file - save it on your PC
3. you should be able to set the annual rain totals in your Davis station - your manual will tell - I don't know the Davis ...
anyhow - copy them down - there are also several (more or less elegant) ways to do this via MB if you can't do it in your Davis console
4. If you have already data you want to keep after connecting your new station, look them up in the history and note them down - or export them before you do the following steps
6. connect to your MB Pro via SSH (use the PuTTY app); enter the IP address of your MB Pro, connect as user "meteobridge" (without the "") and your password you use for the web interface
6. at the command prompt: root@MeteoBridge:~#
enter cd /tmp/mnt
result:
root@MeteoBridge:/tmp/mnt/#
enter ls -l
result: (something like)
drwxr-xr-x 5 root root 4096 Jan 10 23:32 PWS
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Jan 28 18:37 USB
drwxr-xr-x 10 root root 4096 Jan 24 01:14 data
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 176139264 Jan 29 13:40 dbase
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 32768 Jan 29 13:40 dbase-shm
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 46144 Jan 29 13:40 dbase-wal
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 84148224 Jan 11 14:32 dbase.old
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 24694784 Jan 29 13:01 dbase.ram
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 26 Jan 29 00:00 growth
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 7604362 Sep 28 15:37 hwslocal.tgz
drwx------ 2 root root 16384 Aug 8 10:32 lost+found

the database related files are shown (here) in bold/italic

now - and this step will be IRREVERSIBLE (i.e. data gone forever !!)

enter:
rm dbase
rm dbase.ram
rm dbase-wal
rm dbase-shm

7. type exit and leave the Putty app

8. Go to the service --> event tab - so you can see all your service events
9. open a new browser tab/window and go to the system/administration tab
10. make a reboot - MB will start from scratch with an empty database
11. check in the same browser tab/windows the system/logging until the MB is up again- don't touch the still open service tab in your browser
12. now go to your browser tab/window with the service/events still in - press save !!!
Now your service settings should be safe and saved

The History tabs offers options to delete data. There you can delete data of all sensors for a year with one click. This might be the preferred way instead of logging in per SSH and deleting files with the option to do something wrong that breaks operation.

Sometimes a shell login - like proposed by Gyvate - might be the only option, but I really ask not to propose that as the standard procedure. Risk to do something there, that has side effetcs you don't know about is rather high. When messing on the shell, please accept that you are on your own from that point on. I don't have an issue, when someone makes shell use, but I have an issue taking care of systems broken by that.

Just enter a data set manually that holds all the rain fall of a year.

Just enter a data set manually that holds all the rain fall of a year.
I think what he means is, e.g.
go to the history and select the sensor rain0total
Then select 2021, January, 1
and now enter e.g. at 00:00 your rain totals (the amount of rainfall until the day MB started to record rainfall from your new station).
You can of course choose any other date in 2021.
Or, if you still know the rain history of this month, enter the daily totals at every single day. (looks nicer in the graphs)

Yes, that was what I meant. Thanks for being more explicit on this, my short sentence might not be sufficient to understand if you don't already know.
