Missing Solar Data on Weather Display Console

Post by varadero »

I have an issue whereby the Weather Display Console is not seeing the Solar data from my Davis Vantage Pro2. This data Is present in the Meteobridge and Davis Console. All other data is present and correct. The only thing I cannot see in the logger is reference to Sol0. Has anyone any ideas why this data is not forthcoming. Weather Displays knows I have a Solar Sensor.

Mmmh - the logger is not always very verbose.
Can you see your sensor in the "Live Data" -> "Raw Sensor Data" table ?
Is there a 0 Solar sensor shown ?
And in Weather Display Solar sensor Setup -
Do you see something in the "Current Reading" tab ?
The Main switch in ON and shows green ?
In the Davis configuration (station setup) section -
have you tagged "Ihave solar" resp. "I have solar+uv" ?

Hello

Thank you for your reply. Basically the answers to all of your questions are yes except for the Current Reading tab in WD where there is a nil reading. When I was using Meteohub setup this all worked fine but with Meteobridge there is a nil reading for Solar. This what has me stumped as all else is working fine. Nothing was changed in Weather Display except for the Comport settings.

Whether you can make sense of this I don't know, but thank you for your help.

Richard

Hello again.

Just a little more info :- For Davis Setup

Configure sensors and mapping to transmitter IDs
Transmitter #1: ISS All Direct
Transmitter #2: Wind (Not Vue) " "
Transmitter #3: Rain (Not Vue) " "
Transmitter #4: Temp Only (Not Vue) " "
Transmitter #5: Temp/Humidity (Not Vue) " "
Transmitter #6:
Transmitter #7:

However, in the drop down menu for each Transmitter, # Sol0 is not offered as an option, so is this where the pronblem is I wonder?

Regards

Richard

Obviously Meteobridge is receiving the sensor data (see above in blue).
Now we have to look into how this data is sent to Weather Display.
(I assume that by Weather Display console you mean the program interface of Brian Hamilton's Weather Display software - if not and it means something else, then my statements may be wrong. If you mean by it pwsWD - the pws weather display template - pwsdashboard, the answer will be different).
Normally, in my understanding, WD will receive the data directly from the Davis station. So the issue would be either with the Davis station or with WD. So no MB issue.

If you receive your Davis data in WD only via Meteobridge, then you would in my understanding choose a different interface, not the Davis interface in the settings.I think https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WEl5vkJz7H4
describes what to do.
so my questions (assuming we are talking about Brian H.'s Weather Display) are:
a) did you do what is shown in the youtube video ? Result ?
b) are other data shown/not shown or only the solar data ?

Hello
Thank you for your reply. In answer to your question :- I assume that by Weather Display console you mean the program interface of Brian Hamilton's Weather Display software, the answer is yes.
I followed the Utube and the only difference was that I have a different IP address.. fine but I did't have Meteohub ticked - but that didn't seem to make any difference.
In Meteobridge where the Davis settings are made, I unticked all the boxes but again that's made no difference.
All the data in the WD program interface is present except for Solar
I rebooted both WD and Meteobridge but no difference
All the raw data in Meteobridge is present.
On PWSweather, my solar is showing.. So
I still don't understand why solar is not showing in WD

I would head over to the WD forum https://www.weather-watch.com/ and ask there as it seems like this is no Meteobridge issue.

Hi

Yes. I'm inclined to agree. I have asked once on the forum and Brian replied with a couple of questions but I've heard nothing since. I've checked through WDisplay.ini and all the relative parameters seem to be set ok. Based on others questions, I've set up a logfile in WD on the suggestion that WD may be rejecting "bad data" and not doing what it's supposed to, Rest assured that if I find the answer I will post you!
Many thanks for you invaluable assistance

Regards

Richard
