Hello Bart , thank you I try to implement universal ideas meaning the ones that benefit all , if its feasible and reasonably easy to compile and maintain then generally it gets done sooner or later . Secret is to keep an happy medium and not ignore ideas , all ideas have their weight in gold eventually :-)

UPS I just simply leave it connected to an electric socket outlet so remains continuously charged , mine has been sitting in circuit since 2017 ,all that is connected to it is the Davis console and router as I use a NANOSD .The advantages are the NANOSD continues to log data without the need of having the batteries inserted ,which would probably not last long as the consumption drawn by the NANOSD would likely flatten(batteries) them in a few hours . I also have a router which simply has a USB port which allows me to connect my 3g travel dongle which uses my cellphone/smartphone carrier service. generally power cuts are not as frequent these days here but back in 2017-2018 it was weekly sometimes daily especially during hot periods as most households have air condition units (you can't live here without one in June,July,August and early September you would never sleep ) but last couple of years its improved vastly to once a month but we are now notified in advance of downtime ..

I paid around $50 (based on exchange rate at the time) in 2017 ,this is the model below , but they probably come in different brands but 1500va is good for 48 hours for a console and router , if you were to run other items off it it wouldn't be that long ..

have a good day..

Hi Brian,

Looks like my old WeatherFlow Air has finally "bit the dust". As you know, I only use it for Lightning. Last evening it starting sending lightning strikes every second. Took the batteries out and brought it inside, but as soon as I fire it up it starts again. I will check it out further today, but I suspect the Franklin chip has played out.

Fun while it lasted.

Latest updates look great :D

Take care,

Chuck

Update: After sitting overnight, inside, with no batteries - it now looks like it is back to normal.

happens to mine occasionally, discharging the circuit brings it back to stability, but its a pain in the ass as mine is buried in the garden obviously water proof sealed. also I found if one of the 4 batteries are depleted this causes problems as the unit still functions but the depleted batteries may cause localized under current, static issues causing the unit to malfunction.hard to explain but removing ,replacing batteries after a few hours does the trick ..

worth checking on ebay or similar for used versions of the weatherflow air as you have a hub.. saw some on UK ebay a while back for something like £30 with hub..i have three spare air units which i accumulated during the test periods so im good for a few years :D

It is probably worth remembering that the batteries in a UPS have a finite life.
In the non-smart versions ( the ones that don’t test themselves once a week and report on their available runtime) you have absolutely no idea how long it will last.

I had a customer who told me that they had lost 2 hours of audio editing work due to a power cut. When I tested their UPS it lasted precisely 6 seconds. It was a 1500va well known brand 5 years old and had a Synology 2 bay NAS, netgear switch, and PC on it. Total load around 350 va…

Moral of the tale …if you use one then test it when you aren’t relying on it…

Weather34 Version 9.34z (multilanguage-support) download?

Post by xray77 »

Hi all,
Has anyone archived the latest W-34 version (Final-9.34z) with multi-language support and can offer me a download?
I have some users who would prefer the German language version, unfortunately I only had a very old version archived....
It would be great if someone of you still has the 9.34z as a master version,
Thanks a lot
With kind regards
Michael

EDIT:
It's already done, Brian fortunately had another version archived!
Thank you very much Brian!
best regards
Michael

Your welcome Mike ...

After much thought over the last week or so I decided not to go ahead with a paid version . to break it down

1.The chart library cost $3995 for initial developers distribution rights with 1 year support. after that only an annual fee for support is required .

2.Am I really dumb enough to throw nearly $4000 at something I do as a pastime and have a personal interest in .

3.I certainly don't need the money or have any requirements to make money from the template and to be honest id rather spend $4000
on something else ( I am toying with buying a small boat :-) but Ive no idea how to sail/maintain one so Im being taught by a local fishermen next week).

4.Throwing monetization in anyway into the template is not what I really want todo at all, I like the idea it is free and creates no hidden
pressure or expectations.

5.I like the happy medium amongst us I just think throwing money into the equation creates a different atmosphere and that itself deters progress for ideas.

6.For me as it is now I see no reason to change anything and in this current state it is easy to evolve ideas and adapt to newer browser capabilities .

7.Everything I use to develop with be it computer, devices, webspace, weather station are all things I actually use for my own enjoyment so I see no need to offset costs against any of those.

8.So let's just plod along and evolve as ideas materialize and leave money out of the equation, if it was of importance or a burden I would have done something years ago..

9.Dont forget we already paid a reasonable amount for our weather station hardware , Meteobridge devices and so on, so its nice to be able to try something without it being a waste of money .

10.lastly my wife though I was nuts, $4000 would buy her a few new pairs of shoes, sneakers to add to her already large collection that occupies a whole sliding wardrobe :-) "money can't buy love but it can buy shoes"

Hello Brian,
I think it's very good that you decided to continue offering the template for free! It's just like you say: a paid version raises user expectations, which might then lead to more stress during development....
For most people, it is indeed a hobby in which a lot of money has been invested over time. I think I have invested about 8000€ or a bit more in the last 20 years
Thanks again for the multilingual version, I would have preferred the Aurora version, but I listen to the visitors of my website...;-), these are by far mostly German-speaking users and they wanted German-language content...
Nevertheless, I will continue to follow the development of the Aurora version and wish you lots of fun and idea input for it!

Women and shoes... that's a chapter in itself :D
Best regards
Michael

Brian,

Yes. $4000 can be enjoyed many ways - why turn a hobby into a headache. We did the boating thing for about 5 years and had a great time, but watch out, what they say is true BOAT = Break Out Another Thousand. That will buy lots of shoes. :D We have now paired down to Kayaks, which we use year round.

Best wishes,

Chuck

Hi Brian,

As a boat owner myself (albeit a long and thin one ), I can assure you that boat ownership is second only to aeroplane ownership As a method of disposing of money. Perhaps shoe ownership is cheaper?

Installed 3rd September update ( and confirmed on Hardware screen) but no zoom screens on previous years data…

Good morning Gary

Reference the boat im just toying with the idea , wife's family has a history of owning a small fishing boat , we live by the sea front about a 1km from the marina and we like to eat a lot of local fish from September to January and we kind of want to sit out in the peninsula during the summer weekends. not buying anything big just something suitable and manageable and as with most or all pastimes there is an expense so no different from owning a car .

previous year charts are viewable via info year, month screens etc screens below .be patient all will fall into place..its worth noting there are over 200 different chart files offering a range of views from various points, so it takes time and patience to make it all matching and balanced in terms of design layout.really do focus on that it all works in design layout .

charts will have many newer viewable options in coming weeks just do a bit step by step .

Hi Brian,

All the additions look Great and are working well on my site. I think it was a good decision not to go with a paid app but I would have gladly paid for it if you had chosen to go the route.

Boating .. :-) I was born and raised in Fairfield, CT USA a town on Long Island Sound. My dad was a Coast Guardsmen during WWII and a Coast Guard Auxiliary member after the war needless to say we had boating in our blood & family. My Dad and I along with other family members were owners of a nice little 28ft inboard Cabin Cruiser and a 23ft I/O drive V8 powered Fishing and SKI boat. Although we had many wonderful times boating the Reality is picture yourself standing at the end of the dock tossing Bags Full of money into the water...lol
Good Luck !

Hi Brian

Whats the significance of the blue colour underneath the orange max/min temperature bars in this chart
TempChart.jpg
TempChart.jpg (135.63 KiB) Viewed 5258 times
I find it a bit confusing because it looks as though the the minimum temperature is 0 DegC every day from April until August

Good morning Graham

blue which indicates lowest temp, if it was using color coded based on lowest temp in some climates the color would be the same for hi and lo .for example here in istanbul august at the beginning some days hi of 30-33c and lowest of 25-29c so in year chart view it would be hard to differentiate the reddish orange of 25c-29c on a 30-33c red hi ,the blue highlights the lowest somewhat better when hi/lo temperatures are close.

blue is basically probably the best general indication on lowest temperature particularly in year charts as the more data added as the year goes bye the bars become thinner ..probably get away with using color coded views for lowest daily temp in UK climate but many parts of the world it wouldn't work .having lived in UK I understand you have warm days but your night cooling temps are much lower than what I see here for example .so blue works for the wider audience.
