Personally I can see a use case for using SLC in Meteohub, on the other hand I think it's worth to ask the question: "Is Meteohub really that mission critical"?

Personally I rather have a decent bacup on a regular basis (mine is twice a day) and a recovery plan in case of failure.

In order to get more data into SD cards flash memory, they have gone to a multi-level storage scheme with multiple voltage states. The difference between these states is smaller than the single-level type. As flash "wears" the difference between a "one" and a "zero" starts to reduce. With the single-level there is a wider voltage range before the bits deteriorate to the point that data is corrupted.

I think that most users of SD cards use them for photos, and fairly static data storage. Our weather data is constantly updating the flash memory.

Thanks all.
I had a similar problem and my meteohub (on RPi) stopped working.
When I connected a screen and keyboard to it, it was showing the mmcblk0p4 file wouldn't open.
Giving a message: fsck.ext3: Bad magic number is super_block while trying to open /dev/mmcblk0p4

Followed the instructions on the previous page to get a dsck done and finally fixed the sectors and checksums.
