Hi David,
I already made several recomputations. Meteohub log shows nothing of interest, but the system log shows lots of messages like these:
Jun 30 17:05:25 (none) daemon.info thttpd[1093]: spawned CGI process 23206 for file 'meteolog.cgi'
Jun 30 17:05:26 (none) daemon.info thttpd[1093]: spawned CGI process 23208 for file 'meteolog.cgi'
Jun 30 17:05:28 (none) daemon.info thttpd[1093]: spawned CGI process 23210 for file 'meteolog.cgi'
Sometimes it just works fine for a few days and then it gets back to this odd behaviour. Maybe only a full reinstall will solve this problem?

In normal operation WD asks for the 'latest sensor' data via meteolog.cgi around every 3 seconds, i.e. as per the
http://192.168.1.78/meteolog.cgi?mode=data
you mentioned earlier.
PS. Which version of meteohub are you using?

I'm using version 4.3f. When I access
http://meteohub/meteolog.cgi?mode=data the system load goes up really quick but still nothing shows. When I open WD it downloads old data without any problem, then it just "freezes".
EDIT: it started working fine again and I can see data from
http://meteohub/meteolog.cgi?mode=data

While WD is 'catching up' it uses a different style of meteolog.cgi call that asks for a data from a specific minute, repeating that call for all the minutes from when it was last running till it reaches 'now'.
When WD reaches 'realtime', it switches to using the
http://meteohub/meteolog.cgi?mode=data style call every 3 seconds, plus a "whole minute" request once a minute.
I wonder if it is significant that the month has changed? With the change of month,
http://meteohub/meteolog.cgi?mode=data will be looking at a fresh new file.

It might be. But after 1 and an half day it has got back to "normal" and
http://meteohub/meteolog.cgi?mode=data shows nothing... :(
