Here's my raw data from when I switched from WLIP to Meteobridge a month ago...

The WeatherLink website has a spot for passcode (which I never entered), while MB does not have a passcode entry field.
It looks like Amateur's are supposed to use different servers and a passcode. See #3 at

I asked about this on a CWOP forum. See discussion here:
http://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic= ... ;topicseen
It seems that if we could input our CWOP password in Weatherbridge/Meteobridge, this would allow the TCPIP* to pass through. Is this something that could be tried in a future release? Or a beta test?

Normally I am able to understand interface specifications, but this APRS things really lack a clear protocol description. To be honest, I am sure all the bits of information will exist somewhere but it should not need Sherlock Holmes to find it

Can someone please point me to a specification that states where to put the password into the CWOP packets?
<start unfair ranting>The whole CWOP pages do urgently need a major rework, people not already knowing the answers to their questions don't find anything there. Is it too much asking for a simple link to a clear protocol specification on their main page? To be honest these are the worst designed web pages I have seen for ages and this includes not just the look but also the inability of a normal user to find anything he is looking for. sorry, that had to be said...<end unfair ranting>

This may help... See #11 here:
http://wxqa.com/faq.html and
http://www.aprs-is.net/Connecting.aspx
Also found an informative thread here:
http://server.gladstonefamily.net/piper ... 17523.html
Though I haven't had any problems getting my data to findu, MADIS or NWS with the current configuration, a quote from
this page concerns me:
There are references to unverified logins using TCPXX* in the path. This has been depricated and no packets from unverified logins shall be passed by the server.
If you add a passcode field to the CWOP Weather Network section, keep in mind that when a passcode is entered it would use rotate.aprs.net instead of cwop.aprs.net per
http://wxqa.com/servers2use.html
I'd be happy to help beta test this if you'd like.

Thanks for providing links to the known confusing pages
They give there "user EW9876 pass -1 vers YourSoftwareName 1.0" as an example and somehow mention that a "passcode is -1 (minus one)" but it remains unclear what are valid values for the passcode: just numbers, just negative numbers, any string (but how to be encapsulated?).
If you add a passcode field to the CWOP Weather Network section, keep in mind that when a passcode is entered it would use rotate.aprs.net instead of cwop.aprs.net per
http://wxqa.com/servers2use.html
Again a strange complication of things... not motivating me at all to sink time into this.

Agreed that their pages are not pretty...
I've requested my passcode since I'm a licensed Amateur Radio operator. Once I get it I will PM you with further information on how it appears to be formatted.

Agreed- it is very confusing.
I noticed another symptom of not passing the user's CWOP passcode... My station doesn't show up on the APRS map. (My station *did* show up on the map when I sent my CWOP data with passcode via Weatherlink.)
FWIW, my CWOP passcode is a 5-digit number.

@K5KVN: How and when did you receive your validation code? I requested a code over the weekend by sending an email to both addresses listed on the "ARPS Servers to Use" page at wxqa.com. Russ' email has been returned "delayed", n5jxs was returned "unknown user". TIA.

I received my passcode via email from Russ, but that was three years ago.

I'm using metohub to send to CWOP and it's not working all that well. I also am running Weather Display that gets it's data from meteohub.
When I setup Weather Display to send to CWOP this is what I get in the WD log.....
CWOP data send start 5:41:07 AM 7/17/2014
APRS Connecting to: cwop.aprs.net
Aprs connected
sending pass command
user DW5979 pass -1 vers wx-display 10.37R81
Sending the aprs data now
APRS data send:
DW5979>APRS,TCPIP*:@170941z4442.40N/07024.73W_068
/000g002t055r000p026P000b10120h97.WD 10
Disconnecting from the aprs server now
Finished
Looks like there is a login (Station ID, Passcode of -1) sequence that needs to take place so that CWOP accepts TCPIP* without converting to TCPXX*.
Why is this thread marked **solved**? I haven't seen a solution yet.

this is not a thread about meteohub.

That's funny, I've seen meteohub mentioned by you in this thread. Also, I've confirmed that TCPIP* is converted to TCPXX*
by the CWOP servers when no passcode is sent. If you check out my raw weather data on my DW5979 findu site you will see this.
Please respond to my post in the meteohub application when you have a chance.
Thanks

Discussion closed unless CWOP does send me a one pager explaining exactly how to feed their interface. It is working fine for the public. When radio amateur call signs are not handled the best way, so be it...
