thunderstorm will show it is based on trying to form some sort of seasonal outcome i.e thunderstorms predominantly more frequent during warmer months that said thunder can appear at anytime but generally a forecast of thunderstorm (note the word forecast) is during the warmer periods . im fully aware its not a perfect scenario because somewhere in the world both can appear but generally it should be ok for reference. cant see you getting both :-) but who knows ?

please treat it as a reference im not going any further with it if snow and thunderstorm are present in the period it will show up in the icon forecast at the bottom.., it should be generally ok for most climates . have to look at the wider audience to find a balance never keep everyone happy ..

Hi Brian,

I hope all is well with you on the Covid front. I think the Thunderstorm/Snow/UV layout is an excellent compromise and the design is looks great! :D

Best wishes,

Chuck

compromise but a useful one as above need to establish a balance too often its easier to go one way or the other .

.as for covid like most other countries in the northern hemisphere spiraling cases but the strong rising pattern resembles our flu season.weekend night time curfews 8pm to 10 am at present and all restaurants, bars etc closed indefinitely only delivery service available.if no drastic reductions or getting under control next 10 days then we will be in full lockdown which no one wants its impact on the local economy will be horrible .city of istanbul has an aprox population of 17-18 million living in a very small dense area of turkey social distance practice is hard to achieve.. the infrastructure wasnt built for this scenario..

anyway glad your in good shape but beware winter is around the corner the trend we see here is definitely resembling the flu season..

Hi Brian

I see the latest Meteobridge Pro software update adds direct support for Purple Air and Luftdaten

Does that have any impact on your template eg can the Purple Air update rate be more frequent than at present

good morning graham .. no plans at the moment to implement, lesson learnt from when davis airlink was added the initial release was confusing and lots of trial and error .
first inspection or thought comes to mind i cant see how the weather34 API can support multiple air quality sensors already it is at the limit of what can be sent .the API was built around a weather station primarily Davis hardware, this producing a lot of data realtime and historical data .
for example you have yourself 3 air quality sensors each sensor would require 9 additional api strings to deliver realtime data and more for historical data i.e average, max,lo etc that is an additional from top of my head a guess of 38 extra api strings to be sent in the API there are currently 197 strings all required adding an extra 38 will take it beyond the limit which is has been reached .only way possible is to either remove some existing strings and compromise the actual weather station data output i.e lose some data features from the davis output or produce a new short API dedicated for air quality sensors .that said how many will actually own more than one outside or two with a indoor location..

end of the day end user is not interested in the issues that arise when trying to accommodate extra sensors from multiple brands
most will think if meteobridge supports its easy to implement but one thing meteobridge lacks is clear documentation of how all this extra mixing of brands and additional sensor capability is properly implemented and most importantly for any template developer, designer is what the expected string should be.its too often left to the developer to pull his hair :D out at guessing what is expected especially in the case of the developer doesnt actually own any of hardware .

for now purple air, luftdaten will remain as it is once some clear documentation and clarity of how it and what strings are expected I will just wait .as Boris mentions its experimental so in my eyes its not ready for prime time template use best to wait to see how it pans out then move forward .

@Boris a document with meteobridge output string capabilities is long overdue especially with all the new mixing of brands ,a document would make life so much easier for developers of templates etc , adding new meteobridge features would be a lot easier. That said writing documents can be a tedious affair but long overdue.the current wiki template page doesnt cover all possibilities and new additions.

Brian, I think you have a valid point here. With introduction of discrimination between physical and logical sensors I give the user the tool to configure i.e. which of the available temp sensors (physical sensor) should be used for standard outdoor temperature reporting (logical sensor) to be used in weather network uploads, templates, exporting, etc. From my point of view this mapping is a big step forward to provide more stability for template developers. What is lacking is a document explaining to users and template developers what the meaning of predefined logical sensors is. When you look at the "Station - Mapping" tab where assignmenst are made you get some rough explanation about the meaning of the logical sensors. If it helps, I can make a separate and a bit more explicit section about this in the wiki. Or does your request go into a different direction?

Weather34 template (and all other data pull out options) will not know if air quality data is coming from an AirLink, PurpleAir or other station. As long as you map physical sensors of your air quality station to "air0pm" (10ug), "air1pm" (2.5ug) and/or "air2pm" (1ug) all should work fine.

no not going in any direction , think a clear documentation of various additional strings would help those going forward not just for this template but other methods . for this template its not possible to support two or three air quality sensors via the weather34 api there simply is no room to cater for it in the way its been done for davis airlink showing actual , averages, day max, day average , to support three sensors in air quality or any other that means additional new strings required based on they follow your advice and lose some strings to make room and that would be actual weather data so that is not a good compromise . however that said i see the gains from a meteobridge end user point it makes it even more versatile though becoming complex .

simple update contains
request for contact icon ref Gary.
tooltip makeover in main charts.
windchill / heat index seasonal option for small modules simply select appropriate option if you want to use according to your current season.
fireindex ref monitoring Gavin site (SW Australia)
fix kmh wind forecast value output ref Gavin
fix metric snowfall value WU sends metric cm value when either UK or metric option is chosen
add more info link in small moon phase module

other requests Purple Air etc not implemented lets wait to see how the use of purple air functions and how users actually use it in terms of assigning . something for the New Year , dont want to get into another confused outcome as we saw with Airlink so please lets just wait for a while to let it stabilize ..

unfortunately graham your server configuration doesnt update all the files accordingly, can easily tell by looking at your forecast page . yours unfortunately the only one i see this with using update file method , ive tried endless times to reproduce it locally and only by locking file permissions i can replicate it..hope that helps..brian

thats a shame but not something I can resolve for you 99.9% of users seem to enjoy the update method. but I recall you changed server type or hosting type a while ago to your own .anyway if manual update works for you then dont fix it ..Brian
