Re: Weather34 Aurora Version(english supported only)
Hi Brian,
I'm really looking forward to the release of the weather34-barometer.php which has the square barometer version not the current round one (as per your post on Dec 19, 2020 12:43 pm.) I think that really works. I am fond of the text record data day/month/year on the main page where I don't have to hunt for it if it were only found in the almanac.
I've had a look at Aurora II and I don't think the multi-bucket is suitable for things like temperature and dewpoint. The "bucket" obviously works for rainfall, which starts at zero and increases thereafter, but temperature and the others are on a never ending scale -xxC to +xxC. Whilst humidity does start at zero and ends at 100% it's not an "open ended" bucket.
To me the bucket style only really works for things that count up from zero and have no upper limit e.g. solar rads per day, rainfall per day (per month, per year) etc.
Is Aurora II locked in as a future direction or just an experiment for feedback? Will you run both as an either or option?

Re: Weather34 Aurora Version(english supported only)
hello jason i have no plans to change anything or create a scenario of being locked into what I prefer.. what you see on my site is purely a personal template because I struggle with having too much text it doesnt appeal to me . i like the color visual interpretation it helps me due to deteriorating eyesight in last two years , i can glance at it from most distances and get a relative idea of conditions without being right on top of it ,colors help me identify...
so in short this wont be a public release or something I plan todo in the near or far future. I think has the current aurora version goes its pretty much does what it is supposed to so I see no need for more updates .
that said there is one minor forthcoming update file which basically relates to grahams point however it works in a way if no rain rate or rainfall within last 12 hours it will show current month and current year total. thats it and no planned near future change for barometer also it needs a new API string added but its the festive season so I dont feel like bothering Boris at present but can be done sometime in new year or January.
from a personal perspective I laid the ground for another design now it is entirely upto end users to hack it , tweak it or do whatever they want to it .also rolling updates out every time a minority wants this or wants that is really inconvenient to those that are quite happy as it is. so for now its time for me to just help out those who have some difficulty or lack any previous setting up website experience and now also the download will be fully open with no password required .you will be quite surprised how many users have never contributed or used this forum as a medium for communication most prefer good old one to one email .
happy christmas ...

Re: Weather34 Aurora Version(english supported only)
Merry Christmas to you and yours, Brian.
The update for the rainmod.php to show rainfall stats or bucket totals dependent on actual rainfall sounds a great use of space.
I do hope that the next update will include the square barometer option. I really like the look of that but I understand that the circular version reflects the visual view of a standard mercury thermometer scale.
I find forums are very useful and I'm always willing to contribute where it might help someone learn from my trial and error,
Enjoy the New Year.

Re: Weather34 Aurora Version(english supported only)
no problem Jason I could release the barometer alternative now but the API does not contain the 24 hour difference string so it wouldn't work .
forums are useful but many have often mentioned they feel intimidated or inadequately experienced to engage .There are more meteobridge users out there than what this forum reflects .. trust me and if I was bold enough I could have made a nice little piece of wonga over the years
and probably this time next year I would be a millionaire (sez having just watched Only Fools and Horses.. where they dress up as batman and robin ...miss the English humor ) enjoy the festive season and lets hope 2021 is vastly better than the one just ending...
ps..curfew lockdowns work we have seen a 50% decrease in new cases in 3 weeks gone from 6500+ to 3,199 per day we will be back to normal in a matter of weeks at this current falling rate.. but they are strict lockdowns no ifs and no buts !!

Re: Weather34 Aurora Version(english supported only)
Brian, we're entering Tier-4 lockdown tomorrow 00:01. The highest lockdown, to try to put a limit on this newer and more contagious strain that's hit us.
Would it be possible for you to send/email/pm/whatever the weather34-barometer.php code because I'd like to use the square side current-reading side of the new module and I'll replace the 24-diff bucket with the current round-module's historical data?
Regards

hmmmm awakens to numerous emails requesting Aurora MKII seems opinions are divided it seems or they have the same eyesight problem has I ...
jason the barometer square module requires the css change , livedata.php , barometer.php changes so it is best to wait till I send the API change to Boris then ill simply push it via the simple update with an option to use square version.
patience is a virtue ...

Hi Brian,
Just a quick note,
I downloaded the 25 th update.
Installed in the normal way, however the update just created a folder in the root with the name of the zip file.
Deleted and tried again same result.
It’s always worked for me before?

which, as you know, I do not possess. Grrrrr

Aurora II: You're definitely going to have to provide both versions. Lucky you!

patience wasnt required Boris just updated API so a reboot will be required to pickup new API string , doesnt have to be set for firmware update if you choose stick to current firmware just a reboot . will push simple update shortly.

Hi Brian,
I have been watching your site and I am liking the new MKII more and more. I really like the Extra Info link in each module.
This totally resolves my earlier concern about the missing text.
I share your issue with declining sight!
Bottom line - it looks great on my big monitor.
Chuck

Re: Weather34 Aurora Version(english supported only)
it grows on you particularly when the wind speed steps up a notch ....
some things that are not so apparent .
in temperature module
if windchill is below 0c (32f) the gauge will show windchill
if heat index above 28c(82.4f) the gauge will show heat index
if none of above it will show today average temperature.
it automates nothing to manually do just works according to season
temperature related gauges will automatically rescale and adjust to negative scale when temperatures /dewpoint drop below 0c(32f) .
barometer option has the mmHG support along with hPa,inHG,mb
cloudbase at present only switches between feet and meters based on metric C or F view I will at some point simply add the option to choose ft or meters
the Beaufort symbol now rotates based on intensity from 0-12 BFT
all wind metrics from previous versions are supported kts,ms,mph,km/h
wind run is based on setting of distance unit in the setup km or mi .
screenshots and as you can see it works underneath just like original Aurora version so only a reboot is required of meteobridge to pick up the API string which is [thb0seapress-delta24h:--]
if you install dont forget to run the setup screen this not an upgrade file its a fresh version.
you can simply use your existing weather34charts folder .simply copy or overwrite the one in the installation, this is also uses the same jsondata folder so as you can see there is nothing different on how it gets data .just visually different.
you can simply download from https://weather34.com/homeweatherstation/ no passwords or anything to download just click and have fun.
dont forget your not locked into this if you prefer the original then its there also to download.
all visuals are pure CSS ! no jQuery, no heavy loading images just pure lines of css code ..as before painting with CSS
happy 2021 !!

Re: Weather34 Aurora Version(english supported only)
Brian,
Thanks for all of the info and link. Looks very interesting. I am checking out all of the differences and improvements. I noticed that you did not retain the air quality charts and made the indoor data more concise. Quite a few changes to digest.
Thanks again for all of your work and best wishes for 2021.

Re: Weather34 Aurora Version(english supported only)
well one scenario I didn't expect the pressure drop currently in the UK literally a 32mb in 24 hours I think thats 0.94 inHg ? and still falling .. thats one to fix
I dont have the time to do a GITHUB as you have to upload files and folders independently upon setup a repo its take a while . so download is the only way at present though I could simply do simple updates if required .

enlighten me I haven't done anything different to air quality , I can see a few users with air quality data that said air quality is never configured the same between one and the next user perhaps your configuration Im not able to replicate I kind of lost track of all the air quality stuff it blew my brain apartprestwickwx wrote: ↑Sat Dec 26, 2020 8:29 pm Brian,
