When the raspberry asks you for an userid and a password you are NOT in Meteohub.
Meteohub is accessed only from your browser at the IP-address it got in your network.
So try to find the IP-address (check your router) and use your browser to log on toyour Meteohub.

ip address I found on the router, I type with putty and opens the black screen that asks me to login and password where I have tried to put Meteohub - Meteohub. I have not installed but no operating system, I only installed in sd the downloaded image of Meteohub

The meteohub image contains everything you need.
If you copied it to the SD card and inserted the card
and
restarted the rapsberry:
You should use your browser because you are finished installing Meteohub. Now you can do all config tasks..
===
If using putty you should use root as user and probably kill the meteohub system when doing that.
Please give some info:
Why do you want to use SSH / Putty for?

Meteohub can be completely controlled by your browser. That makes it different from other RPI weather station add-on packages, where you need to edit config files, etc on shell level. Meteohub tries to act as an appliance, where no Linux knowledge is needed, just common sense and a browser.

PLEASE: YOU SHOULD NOT DO THAT. No login as ROOT no login AT ALL using a keyboard/screen or putty.
You should ONLY access your meteohub using the local lan and a BROWSER:
DO THIS: Type in the browser the address of the Meteohub.
Use Chrome, Firefox, InternetExplorer or whatever BUT NOT a keybord/screen.
In your browser you get a login screen.
The Meteohub is already fully operational and running but you can only access the meteohub by a BROWSER.

@WIM: Looks like I should also implement a shell interface for users who don't like to use a browser
but prefer to give shell commands and scroll through ascii texts and config files

Just kidding...
