Samba and NFS?

Hi... expecting my weather station tomorrow, spending a bit of time today familiarizing myself with the Meteohub build.
I was surprised to see Samba and NFS (rpcbind) being started. As a Unix minimalist, I was curious if these were needed? I don't plan on interfacing with Windows or other Unix stations, just using the PI and Wunderground.
Thoughts?
