Frustrated with this product

Okay I have two tp-link TL-mr3020 in the same state.I flashed the firmware and that went fine then when I tried to connect the device up to my network it would not connect right away it would not pick up an ip. I finally was able to get one of the two tp-link to see the network and get into the interface. I set up the interface and fat fingered the wireless. went and created an config file and inserted the usb stick into the tp-link. I was able to finally get it to a state that I could get it to see my wireless and all looked well. Then on moving the device to a new location I notice that the antenna is not nearly that great and I went out of range of my airport extreme. So i went closed to the extreme picked up a signal again logged in changed the wireless config around so so it would pick up on my airport express that was doing N 5Ghz. it never picked up, So i created another config from http://config.meteobridge.com to put it back on the lan so I could get back on the network and reset the wireless.

Now I have a device that does a slow blink of the wps/reset without a network connection and then every so often blinks and all the lights light then come on and go out except for the power light and the wps/reset button blinks slowly again. I have reloaded the config onto the usb drive and power cycled the tp-link I can watch the drive blink a bit but the drive light never goes out. Now reading the flow chart Since I have used this config before I press the button WPS/reset button it seem to read the config off of the drive but then I get back to my state of the slow blink for a while then the light stays solid for a moment then it the wps light blinks again. I can push the wps when it is in slow blink with the usb inserted and get a fast blink but it will not leave that fast state.

I have read the information about reseting the device by holding down the WPS/reset for five but that does not seem to function. I am of the thought that I have somehow bricked these devices. All I want to do is get these back to a zero state and get the meteobridge up and running.

I think it does not work with 5 Ghz, just 2.4 Ghz.
Fast blink means no connection with internet.

I use the TP-Link tl-wr703n, with an assigned IP adress.
Never had any trouble.

Okay so I have this running now sort of on the tl-mr3020. Several questions I cannot find an answer for, the mode switch is 3g/4g is this the correct switch position for wireless? What do the other switch positions do with meteobridge and the 3020? secondly the moment I plug a usb hub into the usb port the device reboots. then it comes back on line. I figure this is a recovery safety net for the device. no matter what is plugged in. I am noticing every so often that the 3020 reboots when the usb hub is plugged in is this a power issue

Happy to provide some answers to your questions and remarks to your comments.

1) TL-MR3020 is 2.4 GHz WLAN only. Meteobridge cannot inject a new frequency band the TP-Link hardware is not designed for ;-)

2) The mode switch is without function when having flashed to Meteobridge (otherwise the wiki would tell you)

3) When your router is configured for DHCP the TL-MR3020 will get an IP without doubt.

4) Why didn't you setup the Wifi from the unit itself when you had it working in LAN DHCP mode? Doing this with a USB stick works, but is the more complicated way.

5) I doubt you have bricked anything. When the unit switches to the large LED to steady on (after fast blinking for a while) everything is fine. Then it just needs you to address it with the right IP.

6) Wiki explains how to go back to different basic states including factory defaults. Please read "getting started" section of the wiki, near the end.

7) The units don't reboot when USB port gets plugged in something, unless it draws much to much power (which a weather station will not do) or you have some strange ground-loops in your electric installations. Works fine for thousands of users. In theory your MR3020 might have a hardware problem, but I don't think so.
