Will updating Debian help USB issues?

Hi,
I'm running Meteohub on a VirtualBox (5.0.14) residing on a Ubuntu host. I have a WMR100N connected directly to the host and a RFXCOM433 via an USB Extender. What I find is that Meteohub frequently looses connection to the RFXCOM (and sometimes WMR100N, but that's a known issue) and cannot recover by shutting the virtual machine off/on.
Only way to recover, is to reboot the entire host (and sometime disconnect/connect RFXCOM physically).
On another virtual host, I have a Windows 7 + a Domotiga software running towards another RFXCOM433E on the USB Extender. This never fails.
I have setup the relevant USB filters, have installed the Windows Guest additions, but have not touched Meteohub's OS at all.
Questions: Would it perhaps help to update Debian? Would it help installing guest additions on Debian? Or must I accept that this is not supported/should work and find another solution?

Hi,
I'm running MH in a Virtualbox environment as well and can't relate to the issues you are describing
VirtualBox 4.3.32
Host OS: Open Suse 12.3 (3.7.10-1.45-desktop)
USB RfXReceiver
Davis Envoy (TCP/IP)
As far as I'm concerned it's running pretty stable and I've never seen any USB connection issues.
If it was me I would probably suspect the USB extender....

Hi JTB,
I would as well, if it wasn't because another VM running Windows 2012 and mapped towards another RFXCOM on the USB Extender never has these issues.

BTW: Would it be possible to get the machine settings from your virtual meteohub? e.g. chipset settings etc.?
