MBPro Power Loss - Looking for WiFi?

Had a power loss this afternoon and 3 MBPro's previously configured and running ok under a static IP all stalled on powering back up with the following display
"Please connect to WiFi access .... "MB- ..." to configure IP at xxx.xxx......"
Now 2 of the MBPro's were connected to a switch powered from a UPS which required a manual start so the MBPro's would have tried to power up (from a separate power source) with no internet link for the static IP. The other MBPro connected direct to the Gateway which would have re-powered at the same time the MBPro re-started also went into this WiFi looking mode? A MR3020 MB also connected direct to the gateway re-powered without any issues.
Re-powering the MBPro's could not fix the issue and all three had to be accessed via WiFi and from the Network tab click the "Save and Apply and Reboot" button from which the access reverted to the as configured static IP's.
One would have thought that since all the units had been previously configured as static units then getting locked with WiFi on re-power is a bit of a worry especially if in a remote situation.
