Rainfall

I think I have something screwed up on my Meteobridge Pro and Davis Pro ISS setup regarding rainfall -- maybe some unit of measurement problem?

My neighbor with an old fashioned glass rain gauge consistently records about 30% more rainfall than my Davis unit. Never less but consistently about one-third more.
His rain gauge is not in an ideal location or high tech or anything like that. I got feed up with his complaining and decided to discover the discrepancy.

I took one of his glass rain gauges and attached it to a pole very near my ISS and at the same height and nearly identical conditions.

This morning we got a very good summer rain of 2.23" according to my unit. My unit on the station page of the MBpro setup is listed and the rain box is clicked as 0.01" (USA).

The glass gauge had slightly over 2.9" about 30% more.

I must have something wrong on my end but I don't know where or how. My comparison of readings is consistent with with my neighbor has been telling me. It is always in about the same ratio.

Troubleshooting suggestions?

MBPro is recording/displaying whatever the data it receives and my guess would be more to do with the Davis rain collector than a unit problem? I would calibrate/check the Davis rain collector first then work back from that.

When you find out differences between rainfall reported by your console and rainfall reported by Meteobridge, then we have something to work on. If it is a difference between console/Meteobridge and an alternative gauge, then I can't do anything, beside that you might specify a "rain mulitplier" on the "station" tab where you can adjust measurements by a factor.

Yes, after a review of the internet forums... very likely the Davis needs to be calibrated.

Thanks
