Newb understanding of Meteobridge

Hi everyone. Just need a little clarification in understanding Meteobridge. New to all of this and PWS in general. I’m most likely going to get a Davis VP2 and eventually upload data to WU or others.

1. My understanding you can buy one ready to go or make one with one of the suggested hardware via flashing it?
1a. No need for a computer other than initial programming?
2. Is there one device better than others that most like?
3. So the device gets plugged into Davis console. It will wirelessly transmit via your router the weather data to the site of your choice (ie WU) ?
4. Does it data log or is that a separate animal?
5. Wildcard, I have a Raspberry Pi3 not doing anything, same concept of wireless transmitting?

Apologies for the newb questions. Just want to understand as this sounds like it may be the ticket for me assuming some the above questions are on target. :D

Thanks!

William

1. Yes as far as the standard Meteobridge is concerned, Lic updates/new version is for 2 years and renewable if required after 2 years, Lic to run current version is forever. The MBPro Red or Black is only sold complete, includes Lic and is quite more advanced the standard MB

1a. Correct

2. MBPro is certainly up on the standard MB but of course is more expensive

3. Yes and No depending on the Davis logger. Wireless or Cable to the router. MBPro red is in addition RF direct from the Davis ISS. Will upload to many sites, including WU

4. It can log/archive data in many many ways.

5. Question for someone else.
