Add [sun0total-daysum.2:0.0] to realtime.txt at pos 56?

Since last week i use the Instromet Sun hours sensor to record hours of sunshine. It is connected to a Davis external (wind)station. I found at the Cumulus site the correct position for sunshine hours, and added this: [sun0total-daysum.2:0.0] at pos 56 of the template. It works good. But when i received the latest update that template is also replaced. Is it possible to add this to the Realtime.txt file (and possibly other templates?
Also the Sunshine graph does not seem to read the sun0total data, it shows no data. Edit: It works when set to Hours
Thx!
Gerhard

Did I post this at the wrong place? I don't seem to get any answers to this and my earlier posts. If so, let me know please!

Can you please give me a bit more context...
How do you create the realtime.txt?
Which sunshine graph do you reference to?

Hi,
I added [sun0total-daysum.2:0.0] to realtime.txt template at pos 56.
http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/Realtime.txt shows that this is the correct position for sunshine-hours. According to Cumulus, i do not know if this is a well-regulated protocol.
I use the Instromet sunshine hours sensor, connected to a Davis Windstation (connected to the Rain-connection) And MB is reading the data.
This is the content of the adapted realtime.txt file in the Template-folder of the MBpro:
[DD]/[MM]/[YY] [hh]:[mm]:[ss] [th0temp-act.1:-] [th0hum-act.0:-] [th0dew-act.1:-] [wind0avgwind-act.1:-] [wind0wind-act.1:-] [wind0dir-act.0:-] [rain0rate-act.1:-] [rain0total-sumday.1:-] [thb0seapress-act.1:-] [wind0dir-act=endir:-] [wind0wind-act=bft.0:-] m/s C hPa mm - [thb0seapress-delta3h.1:0] [rain0total-mmax.1:-] [rain0total-ymax.1:-] [rain0total-ydmax.1:-] [thb0temp-act.1:-] [thb0hum-act.0:-] [wind0chill-act.1:-] [th0temp-delta3h.1:0] [th0temp-dmax.1:-] [th0temp-dmaxtime.ij:-]:[th0temp-dmaxtime.kl:-] [th0temp-dmin.1:-] [th0temp-dmintime.ij:-]:[th0temp-dmintime.kl:-] [wind0avgwind-dmax.1:-] [wind0avgwind-dmaxtime.ij:-]:[wind0avgwind-dmaxtime.kl:-] [wind0wind-dmax.1:-] [wind0wind-dmaxtime.ij:-]:[wind0wind-dmaxtime.kl:-] [thb0seapress-dmax.1:-] [thb0seapress-dmaxtime.ij:-]:[thb0seapress-dmaxtime.kl:-] [thb0seapress-dmin.1:-] [thb0seapress-dmintime.ij:-]:[thb0seapress-dmintime.kl:-] 1.8.7 819 [wind0wind-max10.1:-] [th0heatindex-act.1:-] - [uv0index-act.1:-] [sol0evo-sumday.1:-] [sol0rad-act.0:-] [wind0dir-avg10.0:-] [rain0total-sum60.1:-] - [mbsystem-isday.0:-] 0 [wind0dir-act=endir:-] #if#[th0temp-act.1:0.0]>[th0dew-act.1:0.0]#then#{*([th0temp-act.1:0.0]-[th0dew-act.1:0.0])*400*0}#else#0#fi# ft - [sun0total-daysum.2:0.0] [mbsystem-solarmax.0:-] 0
This is what my realtime.txt template looks like. So in the parsed file there is a H:decimalhour value for sunshine hours today, in this case 5h37:
24/08/18 16:33:43 18.0 51 7.7 4.9 4.3 235 0.0 0.0 1011.6 SW 3 m/s C hPa mm - -0.2 68.8 618.0 3.0 25.5 45 17.7 -0.7 19.7 15:05 12.6 04:02 6.8 14:22 10.4 14:50 1012.0 14:16 1008.6 05:46 1.8.7 819 7.1 18.0 - 1.5 - 325 265 0.0 - 1 0 SW 4120 ft - 5.37 765 0
This is the location of my resulting file:
http://80.100.197.131/weer/mb/realtime.txt
I use the weather.station.software Wordpress plugin, and Pierre, the developer is more than willing to add the sunshine hours to his plugin, and the realtime.txt is already collected by his plugin.
However, when the latest MB pro software was downloaded recently the Realtime.txt template was replaced too by the default one, so the sunshine hours reading was gone, until i added the [sun0total-daysum.2:0.0] to the template again.
So, I hoped it would be possible to add the [sun0total-daysum.2:0.0] reading to the template.
The "problem" with the graph (sunshine.chart) was simply solved by choosing "Hours" instead of "minutes" resolution.
I hope this makes sense;-)
Thanks!
Gerhard

I have just bought an Instromet Sunshine sensor - I am trying to figure out how to configure MB to translate the rain signal to sunshine duration. I see @fotogw has had some success. Can you give me some pointers?

hi @csgregg,
Yes, i got it up and running for 2 years now. I have the Instromet Sunshine sensor set up in a davis VP2+ setting. I connected it as an extra station/ISS as a '3rd party Sunshine Station'. The ISS/stations are collected by my Meteobridge RED.
So Meteobridge handles the sun hours as sun0total, sun0rate, sun0signal and sun0lowbat.
Sun0total is an incremental counter that stats even day at zero, same as the rain totals.

For some reason the graph for this is not generated, but you see the hourly sums, in decimal hour format.
You can display the results in a graph like this:

- Schermafbeelding 2021-03-10 om 22.15.52.jpg (219.6 KiB) Viewed 2951 times
Also the sun total is added in the realtime.txt file, so external software could be able to use this.
Hope this helps!
Gerhard

Thanks for the quick response Gerhard. That is helpful. I was thinking I might be able to do this with a standard MB but it looks like you're using features from PRO, so unless there is a back-door way to modify the standard MB config to make the rain sensor appear as a sunshine sensor, I might need to consider a Red.
Also wondering - have you been able to report sunshine duration to any of the weather networks? Do any of them understand sun duration?
Thanks! Chris

I am not making any progress - I still can't find a way to make MB translate the rain sensor to the sun duration on the standard MB. I have Instromet sensor plugged into the rain sensor connection on the ISS, but MB still thinks it is rain. I can't see any way to tell MB that this sensor is now sunshine duration.
Any suggestions?
