Twitter error **solved**

Suddenly, twitter functionality on my Meteobridge has stopped working. Stopped 2 days ago (10/22 was last tweet).
Rebooted - no change
I get the following error message:
2018-10-24 18:39:47 Error: 2018-10-24 18:39:46 can not post tweet (duplicate) (no more tries)
This is a daily tweet sent at the same time each day (6am)

Any suggestions appreciated.

Guy

Update - found a similar thread (recent) - seems that my tweets may be too similar and are rejected as duplicates.
Changed a word at the beginning - test tweeted successfully. Lets see if daily tweets work again!

I have the same problem,

Subir Twitter: 2018-10-26 07:05:15 Error: 2018-10-26 07:05:08 can not post tweet (duplicate) (no more tries)

The same does not happen with users who send from Cumulus and Weathercloud

Can anything be done - or do we live with this. Seems the Twitter API may have changed?

Hi I am a Meteobridge Pro user which is an excellent tool for transmitting weather obs via Twitter. Sometime in the past, date and year unknown Twitter changed it's operating policy, understandably for all for the right reasons -

Twitter’s specific instructions for schedulers and automation tools read as follows:

“Do not (and do not allow your users to) simultaneously post identical or substantially similar content to multiple accounts.”

And:

“Posting duplicative or substantially similar content, replies, or mentions over multiple accounts you control, or creating duplicate or substantially similar accounts, with or without the use of automation, is never allowed.”

Recently I have updated my Meteobridge SW Version: to Meteobridge 3.8 (Oct 22 2018, build 12418), FW 1.4 2018-10-27 and since this update I am receiving 21:26:46 Error: 2018-10-27 21:26:44 can not post tweet (duplicate) (no more tries) therefore, I am now having difficulty in using Twitter for any of my observations or alerts from my @GuisboroughWx account and as far as I am aware I am not sending duplicate info.

Is there anyone seeing asimilar issue and is there a resolution to it?

Kind regards Paul K Harrison @GuisboroughWx

So far I could not find out why messages are rejected here and there from twitter while on other occasions it works fine.

Does the issue go away when sticking to 3.7? I doubt that as I have not touched that part recently.

In my situation I switched off my Weather Display so my Twitter feeds (half hourly) stopped. I then set up the MB Pro and after a few days setting up the Twitter feeds were erratic after some test tweets then they settled to 3 hourly. See WD Twitter 21/10/2018. I wish I was able to go back to WD to test again. I am not sure when MBPro changed from 3.7 to 3.8?

I am having the same problem. It looks like only Twitter can solve this.

I'm going to try starting the message with the day of the week, maybe that'll work

-Edit-
Can't do day of the week, so I'm trying starting the tweet with the date. I'll know tomorrow if Twitter sees it as enough of a change.

Oct 29 - High and low temperatures at Little Lot Rd, 8.5 miles NE of Centerville, are 65.3º and 43.5ºF.
-Edit-
No luck on Oct 30. Back to the drawing board

This will also affect incremental increase postings. I have tweets going out as wind and rainfall increases. I'll see if putting the time in front helps.

Last evening I changed the twitter interval from 1 hour to 1/2 hour just to see what might happen. At 1 hour intervals it was posting every 3 hours.

When I looked at the feed results this morning I noted the posting times were 22:09,22:39,01:09,01:39,04:09,07:09 & 07:39. I am not sure what this tells us!

Seeing these 'odd' minutes I am wondering if there was a means to post on the hour (or specify a fixed minute if preferred) rather than when the twitter intervals are set up.

I have also posted a query to Twitter about the new 3 hour cycle.

Bob.

This morning I changed my observations to every 10 minutes this worked fine, I then changed the interval to15 minutes, this also worked fine then this afternoon it became intermittent once again. Also when using the Test Function on several of my scripts it stopped working and came up with the error cannot post duplicate.

I've not had the time to read into everything, but this link may hold the answer https://help.twitter.com/en/rules-and-p ... tter-rules

Regards Paul GuisboroughWx

PS I've just reloaded all of my twitter scripts lets see what happens during the next 24 hours.

I have posted a question to Twitter support.

Yesterday (Oct 29th) - posted fine (I had changed the time to 6:15 am). Thinking the issue was fixed, I changed back to 6:00 am - duplicate error thrown again (Oct 30th). Having seen this, changed to 6:15 am (maybe error caused by too many tweets at the same time daily). Nope - same error.
It seems to work very intermittently!

Also using IFTTT to post tweets and was using Weathercloud. Both seem to work so far.

Left this alone for a few days. This morning the autogenerated tweet posted successfully.
But I have seen this before, then it will fail the next day.
