Are there any plans to import data from Weatherlink? If not, could someone share the "simplest" format of datasets that can be imported as of now?

I am struggling with the data import function for nano sd from meteotemplate.
I have gone through the forum and I am still not sure how to do it !
Can somebody maybe point me in the right direction with examples how and what to export and the correct format needed to import ?(dates and the parameter, delimiters etc,)
I just cannot get it to work ?!
Much appreciated,
Leon Rossouw.

What do you have so far? I did yearly exports from MT (csv). Opened in Excel, and did unit conversions. Then did a full copy/paste of the good values into new excel, and exported.

The hiccup you MAY be seeing is the MB doesn't like null columns. So if you don't have a solar sensor, that column out of MT will be null. You need to set it to 0.

For example, here's what MT exported for me:

"2019-01-01 00:06:00","29.2","29.2","29.2","96","28.2","0","0","119","0","0","30.42","","25.2"

I had to convert these US units to C, hpa, etc. I also had to set that second to last column (the null one) to 0. So that row becomes...

"2019-01-01 00:06:00","-1.6","-1.6","-1.6","96","-2.1","0","0","119","0","0","1030.14","0","-3.8"

Can you show an example row from what you have? Also what units are you looking to import into MB (and what exported out of MT)?

Thank you for your reply.
I use iso units.(metric)
I attach a copy of my meteotemplate export...
Also have weathercat...don’t know if a workaround from there would be easier ?

Leon.

I mean, you COULD go out of weathercat, but I had better luck from MT. I never figured out a good way to go from WC, but that was before I figured out solution for MT.

If you wanted to share your MT export(s) I'd be happy to look at what you have. It should be pretty simple (just adding that missing column) if you're already in ISO units.

Oh, I will also say Excel mangles the datetime if you aren't careful when reexporting the data.

I am still struggling with the meteotemplate import.
Could someone maybe tell me what the parameter sequence should be ?

Leon.

Hi Leon,

As offered, I’m happy to take a look at your MT export and adjust for import into MB. I believe the list of variables is identical in order to the MT database table. But MB needs all of them, you cannot delete columns that you don’t want/need. Like the solar radiation column. Your screenshot above looks to be missing the at least the last two columns.

Okay, there's a lot here that's not going to work.

First, you have semicolons instead of commas. Second, you have the date/time separated out from eachother.

Did this file come directly from MT? The columns also seem mixed up.

From MT 17.1 (latest version) my columns are:

0 DateTime Date and Time
1 T Temperature
2 Tmax (max temp)
3 Tmin (min temp)
4 H Humidity
5 D (dewpoint)
6 W Wind speed
7 G Wind gust
8 B Wind Direction
9 RR Rain rate
10 R Cumulative daily precipitation
11 P Pressure
12 S Solar radiation
13 A (apparent temp)

Can you provide an unaltered download from MT?

I have been using the interactive table to export .csv file for chosen dates.
That is also the file I posted on dropbox.
Is there another way ?
Kind regards,Leon.

oh. yes, that's the issue.

You want to go into the MT control panel, and under "Backup" just select "All" or a specific year and "OK". It should download a database export.

At that point, all you should need to do (since you're already on ISO units) is change the solar radiation field to 0 rather than null. I would suggest using TextWrangler, or BBEdit. Do a find and replace for ",," and replace with ",0,".

Then save the file, and try importing into MB.

yay!

And yeah, it's not terribly clear. I spent a good couple days on fixing my data for MB, so glad I could share that knowledge rather than it just being lost. =)

Take care! And be patient. MB takes a while to import data (I think my 10ish years of data took about 16 hours to import).
