Failing to FTP **solved**

Hi,
I am installing a new nano for a friend. Got it all setup and upgraded firmware for the SD card. I have the home weather template working fine, but having trouble getting FTP upload to work.
I enter all the FTP details in the bottom of the services tab. Kept the port at 21. Click save. When you test it says that it can’t open FTP.cotswoldobservstory.co.uk....username or password not accepted.
All the FTP details are correct as I have copied them exactly. It’s also not a hosting issue as I can login straight away with cyber duck using the same details. I even put my own ftp details for my host (currently uploading nicely on my own nano SD) and got same error message.
I genuinely have checked that all details are correct. Is there something else I am missing?

Then that tends to point to your friends network and/or ISP? If all the settings are good, user/password matches the Host & path etc then something may be blocking somewhere?

Is there an easy way to find out where the block is occurring? Could it be a router firewall issue?
His old meteobridge hub was absolutely fine.

Meteobridge supports plain FTP and SFTP (which is mainly FTP over SSH) but not FTPS (which is mainly FTP via TLS).

All,
After trying to solve this for days I managed to get everything working. Not sure where issue was (not nano), but many FTP password changes he is now up and running.
Thanks for help.

I have since tried a straight FTP setup from a MBPro (works fine) to a Nano which is giving the same issue in the Event Definition not the FTP/SFTP config which green ticks. Test from the Event and flags red and shows
2019-01-10 06:46:14 Error: 2019-01-10 06:46:11 ncftpput: cannot open ftp.xxxx.xxxxxx.xxx.xx: username and/or password was not accepted for login. (no more tries):
Same tested in a MBPro works fine so not sure what's going on here?

What browser did you setup your FTP site with and what browser does your friend use?

Do you have any funny characters in the password or username?

That was exactly the same error message I got. My password was totally normal alphanumeric one. No funny characters. Not really sure what resolved it, but 3 days later its still FTPing perfectly.
