Weatherlink desktop software and Meteobridge

I've been using Weatherlink desktop software with my Davis Vantage Vue and Weatherlink IP logger for many years, and have just started using Meteobridge. Since connecting Meteobridge to the Vantage Vue via IP I've found difficulty with the connection between the desktop software and the IP logger. Data from the logger struggles to download and eventually fails. I disconnected Meteobridge, and found I could again download from the logger, but unusually the logger appeared full - something like 513 'pages' worth. When that had all been downloaded to the desktop software I checked again a few minutes later and found that the logger again appeared full.

It appears that using Meteobridge has 'done something' to the IP logger. I tried specifying the MAC address of the Meteobridge in the station config of the desktop software, to see if I could link it directly to Meteobridge, but that didn't work.

What am I doing wrong here? Should I be able to specify Meteobridge connection in the Weatherlink desktop software's config? Why is the Weatherlink IP logger staying full after download?

Any advice greatly appreciated!

You are not doing anything actually wrong (as such) apart from some understanding.

Firstly the IP logger has a limited amount of storage records with the length of storage dependent on the archive interval. Unless specifically cleared then the logger will fill the capacity (100%) then basically auto delete (rollover FIFO) the oldest data in order to add the newest data. With a 1 minute archive interval this rollover will occur after around 42 hours, 120 minute archive the logger will retain around 213 days before the oldest data is lost. The software and the logger sync together when you do a new download with the with only new data since the most recent (last) download downloaded to the PC, the logger may still show 100% full, this is not a problem, this is the way it works. Once you download logger data you could delete the logger data but there is really normally no need to do this. Would suggest a review of the WeatherLinkPC and logger manuals.

You don't mention what Meteobridge box you are using but with a straight IP connection they behave the same way and what you are seeing is normal as multiple devcies (PC, MB etc) can not access the 1 device (logger) at the same time. Meteobridge takes priority and control of the network access which restricts say WeatherLinkPC or WeatherLink.com from direct continuous connection with the logger. On the MB Station tab under the Davis: Vantage Pro2, Vue apart from the IP setting there is an option to set the IP (WL Upload interval), this tells MB to allow a window (every 1 or 5 or 10 minutes) to upload data to WeatherLink.com. Effectively the best place to download data to WeatherLinkPC is from WeatherLink.com using the Web Download setting on the WeatherLinkPC Communications Port page.

Now if say you had a MBPro (red box) then this can change how you could run both an MB and WeatherLinkPC together without conflict a different config and settings
