More bugs or is it me? ** solved **

Hi again!

I've been experiencing some strange errors which I first noticed in the dashboard.

Yesterday, it looked like my windspeed for this month was adding itself instead of showing the fastest so I had windspeeds of 1400 m/s or so.
After a recalculate that error disappeared.
Today, it looked ok but it never showed the high speeds that the storm on the outside was blowing.
I then found in inspect data real cleartext readings from the sensors just like when you connect to port 5555-9(doesn't remember which one).
Rebooting again solved that error but now after some hours uptime, the data doesn't look alright. Whatever I select, I only see data from 20080114 and 15.
Any clues?

Thanks,
Lars-Inge

The effects you describe sound like there are a lot of things going wrong on your system. Did you made a test with your usb stick? There is a link in the download section (tools) to a recommended test tool.

Here in Germany we have a lot of manipulated usb sticks going around. these sticks tell the system that they have 2 GB capacity but in reality you just have 1 GB and when you reach the limit they do overwrite already used parts of their storage. Everything can happen with these and they look ok... until you reach the limit.

I would propose to test the stick and to go with a fresh install of version 1.8 which will be released later this evening.

I will test the memorystick but first I did a check of the raw file.
It looked like this in some places:

20080121203750 thb0 233 37 0080 9960 3 9978
20080121203755 th0 -1 78 -040
20080121203757 rain0 0 0 20
20080121203801 wind0 315 34 30 -052
20080121203801 thb0 233 37 0080 9960 3 9month1_utcdate 20080125193617
month1_localdate 20080125203617
month1_rain0_rate_mm 0.0
month1_rain0_rate_in 0.00
month1_rain0_ratemin_mm 0.0
month1_rain0_ratemin_in 0.00

Something has happened but I will try just to delete the faulty entries and do a recalculate.

Hi,
this very much looks like a corrupted file system. Some usb sticks don't work well. Do you have a noname stick or something from a major brand?

I have had a bad platinum 4GB stick that made trouble, and another user had a file system changing to read-only mode caused by a bad stick. That really made us mad before we realized that the stick was the problem.
