Can't open device http://templates.meteobridge.com/simulstation.plugin: Invalid argument

Problem:
The MB doesn’t pick up any live data from the weather station, and I need help to do the proper troubleshooting.
The MB seems to load historical data from the Davis Datalogger – at least I think so. This is what the logging says (and it also shows historical min/max data etc.):
The full error message is:
can't open device http://templates.meteobridge.com/simulstation.plugin: Invalid argument
I am unsure as to what this tells me.
• Does it mean that the datalogger does not receive data from the weather station?
• Does it mean that MB doesn’t recognize the weather station?
• Does the MB lack a template? Or does the template have an error?
• Etc.
I am considering getting hold of a pc version of Davis Weatherlink so I can see if the weather station actually transmits anything through the Davis Weatherlink data logger. Apart from that I am out of good ideas.
The Setup is like this:
• The weather station is an older Davis Weather Wizard III with a serial Weatherlink No. 7862 device.
• The MeteoBridge device is a TL MR3020 v.3
• The MeteoBridge (MB) is connected to the Internet router by LAN cable.
• The weather station is connected to the MB using a Davis modem adapter (male) that goes into a RS232-USB-A converter based on Prolific pl2303. The USB-A is connected to a USB 2.0 hub. the USB 2.0 hub is connected to the USB-A port in the MB device.
• The MB is working fine and can communicate with the internet (e.g. the Auroa dashboard was created from the MB device)
In MB the weather station is configured as a Davis Vantage as the Weather Wizard isn’t an option. Connection type is set to “USB Serial”. The setup screen is a bit odd as there is a drop down menu named “Device”, but you can’t choose anything here.
Any ideas as to what to try is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
