Thoughts/differences on the following between

wind0wind-avg (by definition average of the wind speed)
wind0avgwind-avg (by definition average of the average wind speed (time used for initial average wind speed depends on station)

- Is an average of an average meaningful?
- When might one be more applicable over the other?

- What might be the best application to use wind0avgwind-avg

Most weather stations report just measured wind speed (stored in Meteobridge as "wind0wind") and some kind of averaged wind speed (stored as "wind0avgwind"). Having those two sensors, Meteobridge can report max/min/avg data for certain time periods for both sensors.

Obviously when looking for gusts the "wind0wind-max" schema is best suited. When looking for averages you can just take the current average as reported from the station "wind0avgwind-act" or you can take an average Meteobridge is building on the reported non-averaged wind speeds "wind0wind-avgXX" where "XX" is the number of minutes to do the average with.

"wind0avgwind-avgXX" will be an average over averaged wind data coming from the station. Not sure if that makes too much sense.

I hope this does provide a bit more clarity and does not add confusion :-)

admin, what averaging window does my station use for wind0avgwind before Meteobridge touches it?
