SOLVED - Was USB Issue - Help! Can't find Meteohub -no IP...

I'm using V2.8 and all of a sudden I can no longer get to my Meteohub and it stopped sending data. All the lights are green and I have rebooted several times.... It's connecting, green light, to my router, but not showing an ip address anywhere. I had it set to a fixed IP and using IPScan - it not longer shows up.... It's powering up - but like it doesn't exist... Any ideas - I can't access it in any way.....any ideas on how to get to it - I can't even browse to it... Ughhhh!

Just in case...
have you tried to connect through 192.168.1.77 which is default IP ? (you need to do it from a PC which also has an IP in the rang 192.168.1.xx)
If it works, the you can change IP again from Settings

It looks like it is definitely at
http://192.168.1.77 - but I still can't get to it... It shows something at that address in IPScan and I can ping that address - but can't pull it up in explorer... My guess it has something to do with accessing it through my linksys router... No luck yet getting to it to change the ip....

I have a NSLU2 with similar problem.
I can see with an IPSCAN. I can access via SSH, but I don't know how to change IP.
I was told it means meteohub is not running in this NSLU2, although I installed it previously. I can see it but who gives access through windows is meteohub software, and it's not working (properly).
So I don't think it is your Linksys...
Chill,

How do you access it through SSH - do you get the normal screens....because you can assign a IP from the maint tab......

One other thing - when I debug through IE - it says that the IP address is not configured for Http access..... Hmmmmm

Well - I've try just about everything and I am completely dead in the water... It has stopped working and I can no longer access my Meteohub... It's not uploading anymore and my site is dead! Very dissapointed in this thing as it just stopped working with no luck.... At least it has a 3 year warranty through Ambient here in the states...

when it does not make the IP signaling after boot, but gives three beeps, shortly one after another differently in volume and pitch, then NSLU2 was not able to boot USB stick, but remains in firmware mode.
You can connect on the unit with ssh in firmware mode, but not via http.
Try logging in on port 22 via SSH. When logged in say "dmesg", which should give you some logs during boot. I guess your USB stick has read/write faults. If so, you can see it in dmesg output.

Okay - that explains a few things! Thanks.
I'm not quite sure how to log in via SSH....do I need a separate program? or is it
https://192.168.1.77/ which didn't work either...
Is there a way to recover the stick or repair it? or do I have to start from scratch... It was a 4gb kingston....a fairly reliable brand....
Thanks

The ssh login/password on all Meteohub systems is root/meteohub (all lower case.)
If that fails then you've got a more serious problem on your hands and there's likely an issue with the NSLU2 itself.

In my case, I have no troubles at all if I use my regular USB (working properly). But if I MAKE A NEW USB STICK Image, then I get three beeps and I can't reach it (unless I use SSH login).
So point is, is the new USB Image working fine, or it is my USB which is not working? I GUESS IS MY USB sttick, so today I'll buy a new one ... and I'll try again...

first partition (sda1) does not mount, therefore boot of usb sticks fails. however third partition (sda3) that holds your data looks ok.
I would recommend to set up a new stick and then to copy partition 3 from the old one to the new one. By that you do not loose your data. Do you have a spare USB stick (formatted in FAT/FAT32) where to copy the data onto?
If so, steps are.
1) boot nslu2 with original stick inserted.
2) login via ssh
3) put temp usb stick into the other usb slot of NSLU2, give linux commands as follows:
4) mkdir -p /mnt
5) mkdir -p /mnt2
6) mount /dev/sda3 /mnt
7) mount /dev/sdb1 /mnt2 (if that fails use /dev/sdb)
8) cp -r /mnt/* /mnt2/
9) umount /mnt /mnt2
10) unplug temp usb stick and save data to your PC.

Well - I created a new USB stick using DiskImage and used the 4 gb version with a new SanDisk USB Stick... I still can't get to it...same as chill - could there be something wrong in the image as I three beeps - two the same and one different tone...
My computer is at 192.168.101 and I have also tried it at 192.168.1.73 and still can't get to it. I can get to it via SSH with the new stick - but still can't via Explorer.. There must be something deeper that is wrong... Here is my latest... Look at the very end - problem with FAT???
I originally reformated the new stick with FAT32 then ran DiskImage to mount the dd file. I'll try reformating again but do it through the NSLU2 instead of Disk Image to see if that changes anything...
