Excessive logging by cron

Hi,
While looking at all the system logs, I noticed a lot of, in my eyes, unnecessary cron log entries in var/cron. As far as I'm concerned they are only needed when debugging cron issues.
So I went ahead and looked at /etc/default/cron:
CROMLOG=NO
Obviously a typo, so I corrected it:
CRONLOG=NO.
Restarted cron of course, but it doesn't make a difference, so appreantly we are using a different config file?
