Error while installing on ebox 3300

Hi,
I have received my ebox 3300 today. I want to make it work with a Transcend 300x SLC CF card.
For creating the USB stick image I used DiskImage for Windows XP.
System boots Linux, but a few seconds later ebox show this on screen:
[...]
Mount USB stick as /dev/sda1
Meteohub Image found: meteohub-x86-4GB.gz
Error: Target disk cannot be mounted as /dev/hda or /devhdc
After last line, system stops and is in stand by.
I know ebox detects CF card because it appears in bios screen when selecting first boot device.
What can I do?
I have a card reader on the PC, so, is ther any way of writing meteohub image directly on the CF card without using the USB stick?
Thank you.
Victor

Buenos días Victor,
the solution is this:
you need to move the DIP switch on the inside of the CF-slot so that the CF-Card can be mounted as
hdc.
Read here what I posted three months ago...
buena suerte,
Wolfgang

ebox-3300 does not have best driver support in debian ech'n'half. Therefore mount of CF card might fail on the first run. Hitting that Meteohub should offer an option to try again by pressing enter (or something like that, I don't remember the exact wording). Doing that Meteohub should recognize the CF and installation should start.
If that does not do as well, please check in BIOS in section IDE Configuration if CF card gets mapped to Primary Master or Secondary Master. If not play with the dip switch as mentioned from wfpost.
ebox-4300 and 3300 have dip switches to map CF card slot to Master or Slave.

Thank you for the answers.
DIP switch is in "Master" position. I moved to Slave and then to Master again trying to see if it has any effect, but it wasn't, the problem is the same.
Checking at BIOS IDE configuration, CF card is mapped to Secondary Master. When watching the properties, "Block Mode" is not supported.
Boris, as you say, if pressing enter when error appears, system starts to make tries. It is still trying without success for 10 minutes, repeating this lines:
Setup Meteohub...
done
Probing partitions... done
major minor #blocks name
8 0 982528 sda
8 1 982512 sda1
(process:###): INFO: kbd-mode: setting console mode to Unicode (UTF-8)
The number ### is the only one thing that is changing.

As your USB stick is recognized as /dev/sda and /dev/sda1 it is obvious that it has not been build as "physical disk" with DiskImage. Please build it again in "Physical Disk" mode (scroll down target device list until physical disks appear). Valid for Windows XP, Vista might not provide that option until you start DiskImage in XP-Compatibility mode.

Right, it wasn't built using "Physical Disk". Now it is, but the same error.
Now just one line: "8 0 982528 sda". Nothing about "sda1".
I am using WindowsXP SP2.
I have tried to build a new image with a second usb stick, but still the same.
Any idea?

USB stick seems to be fine now. Two more questions:
1) What CF card are you using?
2) Are your BIOS settings exactly as displayed in the manual?

CF card as "Secondary IDE Master" should look like this (advanced -> IDE Configuration):

Gracias Wolfgang por tu pronta respuesta y ayuda.
Thank you for all the replies and the effort, even with pictures :cheer: . At last it WORKED!!. CF-Card was mounted as /dev/hdc. I am happy now.
Well, USB stick was fine with "Phisycal Disk" option in DiskImage program. The key finally was in BIOS configuration. The change that did it works was: "Advanced" -> "IDE Configuration". Then selectig "OnBoard IDE Operate Mode" and then chosing "Legacy Mode" instead of "Native Mode". When doing so, CF-Card was mounted and Meteohub setup started.
CF-card was a brand new 4GB Transcend 300x Ultra DMA with SLC.
Thank you once again.
