Meteohub system load consistently 5-12 for hours **SOLVED**

My 266 MHz NSLU2 Meteohub spontaneously rebooted and during the recompute the system load was running from 5 to 12 for over eight hours afterwards with no indication that the load would ever drop. Normally a recompute on this unit in the middle of the month would run a system load of about 3 to 6 for at most five hours.
The situation was very similar to the problems in this thread: Help: Meteohub load consistently 5-8 and 100% of cpu for days
I checked the meteohub log and it showed no indication of bad data before, at the reboot, or afterwards. The data inspection only showed a 10-minute gap of no data at the time the reboot began.
I tried a Cleanup Data on the latest data month and that immediately caused the system load to begin to revert back to normal levels.
