Any plans to support the Current Cost energy monitor? I see in the latest software update there is a fix for the Conrad/ELV energy meter.

The Current Cost energy monitor has built in data storage for 7 years energy use and has USB output.

Would be nice to monitor my power usage from the web.

I've been reading live data from the Current Cost and logging it to Meteohub for about a week now, but I'm still trying out different ways of recording the data and different "units" to see what works out best for graphing and analysis.

I hope to have something worth sharing in around a week or so. :)

Fantastic, added to the latest release as experimental and I just ordered one today by sheer coincidence and work to Boris about it not having read this thread at all.... Mike

David (skyewright) kindly gave me all of the help I needed (which was quite a lot), and I have been using his plugin for a few weeks with no problems. I probably won't bother changing to the native support, but it is good to know that it is there, thanks Boris.

Is there a link to show how to setup a energy monitor with Meteohub?

I'm actually using both at present[1]! :blink:

They present slightly different views on the same data. At the end of March I may well switch to just using the native version. I have some very nice graphs set up for it in Meteoplug[2]... :cheer:


[1] This requires a change in the plug-in so that instead of accessing the USB serial port direct it reads from the "pass-through" version of the data that the native CC128 is reading.

[2] Which I'm feeding from my Meteohub.

You should find it pretty much like setting up any other "weather station", i.e. once you have added the new station Meteohub shows unassigned "sensors".

Meteohub recongnises each of the (up to 3) "channels" that each CC128 "sensor" has.

N.B. I have found that when rebooting it may be necessary to disconnect then reconnect the USB lead form the CC128. I'm not sure if that is particular to my setup?

I have a couple of months data on my current cost device is there any way of getting it all into meteohub?

I can get the data as a CSV file from my device.

The data stored in the CC128's own 'history' isn't the same sort of data as that which is collected 'live'.

The 'live' data is in W, but the 'history' data is kWh values which the unit has derived from the 'live' watt values, so back filling Meteohub from the CC128 archive is far from straight forward.



For studying daily power consumption from the 'native' CC128 I've been using (average watts for the day) x 0.024 to give a kWh figure (actually I've been doing that in Meteoplug, where it's easy to apply a multiplier like that when producing a chart).

My own CC128 plug-in allows logging of Wh figures[1], so with that I just plot the "data-sum" for 1 day time buckets.


[1] I couldn't manage kWh due to decimal place restrictions.

Thanks for that. I have just signed up for the Meteoplug trial. Looks very good so far. I am strugling with the charts at the moment but should get the hang of it.

I have just got another sensor for my Current cost http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003 ... ss_product so I can monitor my 2 boys power usage while they are back from Uni. Their rooms are on a separate feed so I have intercepted the 2 live wires on their ring main and fed them though the sensor clamp.

I can see from their power chart they did not get up till 15:05 today, OK for some.:)

In the Graphing section of the Meteoplug Forum I've just posted a couple of chart 'defintions' that I've been using with the CC128.
Maybe you could take one or both and adapt them to your sensors?
