usb stick cloning not working

Any suggestions on how to successfully clone the usb operating stick? I have followed the instructions in the meteohub documentation, but so far I have been unable to clone my 4GB usb stick, I've tried it several times with two spare 4GB sticks. The NSLU2 shuts down after I start the clone process like it says it should, but when I try to boot up with the cloned stick, I am unable to get it to work. Thanks for any suggestions.
