No wind data

Hello,
On the meteohub system (connected with a Wireless Envoy), I receive no wind data. When I look at the PC with Weatherlink (connected with a IP datalogger) I see that there is no wind-problem. Normal (live) winddata are shown in weatherlink. Only on the Meteohubsystem there is a wind problem. The windsensor is found by the meteohub and the sensorname is called wind0.
Does anyone have a solution for this strange problem?
Thanks!

You might do a bit more self checking to narrow down your problem. Do you see wind...
a) on sensors page
b) when looking at raw data on "inspect data" page
c) in graphs
d) in dashboard
e) in embedded wd-live
f) or is it just missing in some weather networks

Did you follow setup instructions regarding setting up sensor IDs and using these on http://wiki.meteohub.de/Setup_Guide ?

Off course I did my homework, I'm busy for 2 days looking and searching in manuals, PDF's, fora, set up guides etc
I think I am not someone who first makes a quesion and then reading a manual.
Yes, I see on the windsensor is found, I can select wind0 as the wind sensor. But, as I wrote, I don'nt see any value coming
In the raw data I see this:

20100724160451 wind0 0 0 0 0197
20100724160553 wind0 0 0 0 0197

ok, that looks strange. could you please browse to "http://ip-of-your-meteohub/cgi-bin/help.cgi"?
this will allow me to login remotely.

Two things to try:
1) I can see messages on low battery for your console. So that might be a problem. Are you running this on batteries? can you switch to a power supply?
2) There seems to be a web cam connected as well. May be the web cam drivers do cause some trouble. Please try to disconnect this.

When I look into data reported from your vantage I see loop packets like this:

Code: Select all

03 22 89 02 00 00 ff 7f ff ff

wind speed is position 14 (gust) and 15 (10 min average speed). Having a look at the hex data block above values for these are both zero in raw data. Are you sure that the console does show actual data, not being outdated?

Thank you for all of your efforts so far.
The console is not running on batteries but switched on a normal powersupply. I saw that low battery too on the sensor page but I could not find an answer to that.
The console works fine, I can see on the weatherlink live data coming.......I let the meteohub make a restart now and open it again

BTW, when you look in your extracted data (in green) you can see there was a rainfall of 3,6 mm, that is correct, that's what the console is also displaying (also in weatherlink), but, when I run the preview in WDL form the meteohub, it says it's zero

That doesn't seem to help. Please conenct another weather program (WD or WSWIN or cumulus) with your data logger, to check if this works ok. My guess is, that these programms will also get no wind data.

What I don't understand is that your logger does upload data to the Davis internet? How can that be, as you just have the USB variant? Or do you have two consoles/envoy, one connected to Meteohub and the other with a WLIP? Or did I get you wrong on this?

See my first post in this topic.
I have 2 loggers: a usb to the meteohub and a IP-logger in the console itself. Weatherlink gets the data out of the ip-logger, so thats why i can see that winddata are produced.

"low battery on station 1" is a Davis Vantage issue. You will find posts all over with the various weather forums about it.

I also see the message every 2 months on my console, even if cleared with entering the setup mode:

The low battery notify is not the problem in this case. The console and everything is working fine. The data shown by the admin shows that data is received but meteohub is not showing them. There are even differences between the dashboard and the WDL. In the dashboard everything looks good except the wind.

The USB logger does not get the wind data via RF (I guess). you can connect Meteohub also to your IP logger, try reading data from there. choose connection method TCP/IP and specify "IP : port". Meteohub will give short pauses in data reading from WLIP, so that Davis homepage will be feeded as well.

I will try, but:
1) can 2 programs use 1 IP-logger at the same time or does each application require an own logger?
2) why is the data collected by the USB logger (as you've seen yourself when you logged in to the meteohub) fine but not shown correctly?
3) why is the data shown between the dashboard and WDL different?

BTW the USB-logger is connected to the Wireless Envoy. That Envoy is getting the information from the weatherstation.

ad 1) Just one program can read the WLIP. I understood that the WLIP itself does uploading data to the davis home page, so there is no second external program necessary to be connected to your WLIP.

ad 2) Davis loggers report all sensor status in one single large data block (described as Davis loop protocol). There is simply no data for wind in there, while data for other sensors is there. This is strong indication that your USB logger has RF reception problems with your wind sensor

ad 3) no idea, looks to be a consecutive error. Let's check this, when your rig does operate.

Please test you USB logger with other programs as recommended. I have hundreds of Vantage Meteohub users out there which get their wind data received. Very unlikely, that we have a Meteohub bug here.

You can use your IP logger with more than one program to be safe by using Virtual VP, see http://www.softwx.com/weather/virtualvp.html
It's also no problem to use your IP logger with the Davis Weatherlink website and with Meteohub the same time, I'm using this construction for 1.5 year now, sometimes Meteohub gives a error in the log file that it can not connect to the Davis station.
The IP logger send only once a minute or so the data to the network, see http://www.weatherlink.com/user/hendrik07/

It's also possible you have a problem with your Envoy, last year I also had a problem with my Envoy, it did not send the UV data while my second IP logger in the Davis console was sending the correct data, the Envoy is replaced under warranty.

I'm also using a Envoy AND a Davis console, both with a IP logger. The logger in the Envoy I'm using as backup, the logger in the console is sending data to the weatherlink network and to Meteohub. I choose for this construction because the weather station is located in Portugal and I'm living in the Netherlands.
