Is it possible to use this program, via windows xp to examine what is inside the NSLU2?

I get it running via 192.168.1.77:22 , user name OK but when asked for the password, it freezes the cdm screen and will not let me put anything in via the keyboard.

I'm using putty 0.60 and XP3 and do not experience the issues that you are describing. I would say that you are having a different issue. Maybe the Windows eventlog is giving some evidence.
