I'm not sure if this is the correct forum/site for this question or not...

I've got a ambient weather station ws-2080 model #. It shows rain amounts when it isn't even raining out. Could this be caused by the wind moving the sensor inside the rain gauge?

I don't have a WS-2080 but I have heard of gauges that suffered from false bucket tips caused by the wind (and also a case where the problem was a cow rubbing on the fence on which the rain gauge was mounted!).

IIRC the people suffering from the wind induced bucket tips arranged a baffle somewhere below the bucket, something like a piece of ladies tights/stockings across the bottom of the gauge maybe?
