The Inspeed Vortex anemo has many fans. If Im reading the spec right, it samples peak gusts at once per second.

I wonder is it possible to have meteohub connect via the data logger (shown here http://www.inspeed.com/wind_data_logging/Windworks.asp ) ?

If you can convince them to send me a free evaluation kit for doing the port, this can fore sure be done.
I just see, that they dont give communication details between the logger and the PC (at least I didn't find that),
so it might be a bit harder than usual. But it looks to be usb-serial based on FTDI chipsets, so not too much of a hurdle

From what I understand the build quality looks pretty good on the inspeed vortex.

I also came across this TX20ETH ethernet wind sensor on the net. Looks robust but I am not aware of how it performs in the field.

It is.
I don't use the "Windworks" device but I have an Inspeed Vortex anemometer & eVane vane as part of my 1-wire system using the Hobby-Boards anemometer board. The bearing in the first Vortex unit I had suffered from our coastal atmosphere but the replacement (they'd modified the relevant metal parts by then) is doing fine.
The Inspeed bits are mounted on the same mast as a Davis VP2 and produce very similar results.

Much too expensive for pure wind speed recording, for my taste. I doubt many Meteohub users will even throw a look at this.

When you think you need a driver for this you can even write it your own and make use of it via Meteohub plugin weather station module. That gives every user a chance to adapt to his personal favorite toy, even when it does not seem relevant for the broader public

Agree with most of that. Also I dont particularly like the way the supporting arm is actually in front of the anemo cups . I couldnt find some important details either such as how often it samples wind gusts.

I would be interested if anyone else has found any other reputable anemometer types for use with meteohub. I was thinking about going the Davis anemo (ISS only) route but feel even without the console and logger it is still pretty expensive.
