I have noticed that the log shows a CRON job connecting to my server every five minutes, yet I did not think I had set anything to upload that often. The attached snapshot and summary below shows my configuration.

What would be causing the once per five minutes connection? I know it doesn't sound critical, but I am uploading via a Satellite connection, so I need to minimize the uploads.

1,31 5-23 * * * Between 5am and 11pm, update the overall page at 1 and 31 minutes after the hour. That should include 11:01 and 11:31 pm.

Question: I am now running version 2.7 and have noticed that Meteohub is still connecting to my FTP server every one to two minutes even though the Cron settings are not requesting this. I realize that there have been many updates to the software since I last worked on it. What version would you suggest I upgrade to on my NSLU2 that would resolve this repeated connecting issue?

The update will be applied to an NSLU2 across the network since I have no easy local access to the server, so I want to be sure that I won't accidentally "brick" the server.

I can privately e-mail you detailed logs if that would be helpful.

you might go to 3.3c (last one-station version) and if you like from there to 4.2g (latest version with multi station support).

DO you have ssh connection (port 22) to your Meteohub? If so, please mail details to info(at)meteohub.de. I might be able to help you with the remote update.

Not much luck so far- I am unable to connect to the NSLU2 over the satellite link, so I walked my brother through a local connection. He was able to copy the 3.1 and 3.3c .upd files to the transfer folder, but when he selected the 3.1 file and applied it the NSLU2 stayed on 2.7.

I was also unable to telnet in or SSH in remotely.

I guess I will be driving up there to work on it.

We were able to turn off the FTP connections to stop the once-per-minute attempts to connect to my FTP server, and Meteohub IS still connecting to Weather Underground routinely, so at least some of it is working.

About a week ago Meteohub stopped updating the data that it was FTPing- even though it was connecting once per minute the data being posted was not being updated. It just keeps posting the same data from May 18 at 19:31. Yet Weather Underground is updated properly every 30 minutes.

Corrupted database perhaps? There is plenty of space left on both the NSLU2 volumes and on the FTP server at my end.
