WebCam on local network

I got a Davis Vantage Pro 2 working with meteobridge a few weeks ago. Uploads to weather underground , CWOP and a local MySQL have all been quite stable for a few weeks. I did have a problem in the initial setup when I tried to make a connection to a webcam running on another box on my local network. When I put in the IP address with port, the meteobridge would take a bit of time and then come back with a CGI taking too long error. After this nothing seemed to work right and the meteobridge would go into a cycle of reboot, run for a few minutes, reboot, etc. I finally got back to normal by doing a reboot to factory settings and starting over. As I said I let things be for a few weeks and things were stable. I though I would try the webcam thing again today and the same problem cam up. This time I got back to normal by ssh to the meteobridge and hand editing the meteobridge.conf file to change the webcam url to "none". Not a completely clean answer as this doesn't set the webcam to none it just provides a url that can't be resolved, which is an error that can be recovered from gracefully. I might also mention that if I type the url I'm using into any browser on any machine on the local network, the picture comes up just fine. Any insights into what I'm doing wrong?

There have been improvements on November 20 about handling web cams and how
the system reacts when IP is not avail to better handle time out issues.
So the problems you had suffered from might be gone by now (after a reboot).
Editing the config file manually is not something I would recommend.
The unit is extremely low on flash storage, so even adding some files might blow the system.
I had some trouble shootings where a user installed additional files and I was guessing around
why the unit no longer works stable.... Anyway, if you are already in that situation,
you still can do a complete back to defaults with the five blinks reset explained
in the getting started section of the wiki.

Thanks I'll be on the lookout for improvements. I take your caution about hand editing the conf file. In this case I thought it couldn't hurt too much in that the next step would be start over from scratch anyway. As far as the overall problem goes, after more reading in the forum I decided to go to ftp the image to WeatherUnderground. That seems to be working fine and it gives me what I am looking for at the moment. As I get more used to the equipment and software I will probably want to create more customized output and I'm sure I'll continue to explore what meteobridge can do.
