O.S. WMR-968 - sensor list not consistant

I have a TL-MR3020 running Meteobridge, connected through a generic Prolic based USB/RS232 interface to an Oregon Scientific WMR-968.
The sensor data reads properly on the 968 it doesn't seem to have any problems. When Meteobridge is started it is not consistent in what sensors it seems to collect data from. I have a wind, ext temp, int temp and rain sensors. The longer Meteobridge runs the fewer sensors that will be listed in live data until no sensors are found. I'm not sure how to go about troubleshooting this.
I've tried re-booting (removing power) to both the WMR968 and the Meteobridge in different combinations and get inconsistant results what what sensors are reflected in Meteobridge live data. One time I did see all four sensors but after a few minutes it would lose one of the temp sensors.
Here is some of the data from the system log:
wnetd (04.01.2014 13:06:25): process started.
logger (04.01.2014 13:06:26): Free trial period will end in 14 days. When you want to use this device beyond that period, you are welcome to use online licensing feature on "License" tab to purchase a license.
logger (04.01.2014 13:06:26): Historical data loaded (4 records).
logger (04.01.2014 13:06:26): data logger (version 4.9w, build 2993) started.
logger (04.01.2014 13:06:27): connect station 0 (WMR-928 via USB serial).
logger (04.01.2014 13:22:01): child process received timeout signal (14).
logger (04.01.2014 13:22:01): data logger stopped.
logger (04.01.2014 13:22:01): Historical data loaded (4 records).
logger (04.01.2014 13:22:01): data logger (version 4.9w, build 2993) started.
logger (04.01.2014 13:22:02): connect station 0 (WMR-928 via USB serial).
I did some messages about invalid checksums but don't see that right now.
Any ideas on how to fix?

Update:
I un-plugged the Meteobridge before going to bed but left the WMR968 on. I plugged it in this morning and noticed that all four sensors were listed. I left it on for another hour and power cycled the Meteobridge again to verify the behavior. I continued to read all four sensors.
It seems that the WMR968 must be left on for several hours before results with Meteobridge are consistent? Maybe this problem is resolved now that the WMR968 is left on as I haven't seen the problem repeated yet.
I'm now trouble shooting why temperature and humidity data is not being uploaded to Wunderground PWS from an outside sensor. My weather station ID is KPALEWIS8 on Wunderground. It looks like wind, rain and barometric pressure (from the internal temp sensor) are being reported. However, the external temperature and humidity data does not appear to be valid at Wunderground.
Current live data from Meteobridge:
Live Data
Sensor Signal Metric Data Imperial Data
Wind 6 sec 0.0m/s (avg 0.0m/s) 64° ENE 0.0mph (avg 0.0mph) 64° ENE
Rain 14 sec rate 0.0mm/h rate 0.00in/h
Outdoor #1 3 sec -11.2°C 19% (dew -30.3°C, heat -11.2°C) 11.8°F 19% (dew -22.5°F, heat 11.8°F)
Indoor 1 sec 18.2°C 50% 1021.0hPa (1000.0hPa) 64.8°F 50% 30.15inHg (29.53inHg)
Is there something I need to set to get the outside sensor data to be reported properly?

Are you using an USB 2.0 hub inbetween?
It starts working without but will show problems as you report over time.
Apart from that WMR-968 is known to work be very reliable in every aspect.

If I see the sensors drop out of the live data section i'll borrow or order one and try it. I've power cycled and the sensors continue to be reported in the Metrobridge.
With respect to the problem with the data not being reported to Wunderground, what needs to be done to fix that?

Please go with the hub, it is needed, not an option.

Nothing, unless your WU credentials are ok it will work straight on.

I'll order a USB hub. Thanks.
Regarding the Meteobridge not reporting to wunderground, how do I trouble shoot the problem where it doesn't work? I tired different IDs with the password but the only one that gives me green check boxes is using my station ID and my normal account login password.
Current live data:
Weather Network Status
Weather Underground: 2014-01-05 10:08:27 Success!
Live Data
Sensor Signal Metric Data Imperial Data
Rain 43 sec rate 0.0mm/h rate 0.00in/h
Wind 9 sec 0.0m/s (avg 0.0m/s) 63° ENE 0.0mph (avg 0.0mph) 63° ENE
Indoor 28 sec 18.7°C 48% 1021.0hPa (1000.0hPa) 65.7°F 48% 30.15inHg (29.53inHg)
Outdoor #1 1 sec -7.8°C 23% (dew -25.3°C, heat -7.8°C) 18.0°F 23% (dew -13.5°F, heat 18.0°F)
I see that under the Meteobridge Weather Network tab, I have green check boxes beside the ID and the password. On wunderground under PWS, it indicates 'not reporting'. Earlier this morning I saw the pressure and wind but now I don't see anything.
Does it take some period of time before it works as you expect?

WU is sometimes a bit slow in realizing updates.
When you see green marks on Meteobridge's live data tab for WU, then data has been sent ok.
When the sensors drop out, these sensors are no longer used for upload to WU. That might explain,
why WU is not populated with data. I guess these problems will totally disappear once the USB problem is fixed.

So how many days until the temperature it works? Wunderground now is showing that it is getting data.
I'm still seeing ALL the sensors in meteobridge:
Weather Network Status
no Weather Underground: 2014-01-06 18:25:20 Success!
Live Data
Sensor Signal Metric Data Imperial Data
Wind 6 sec 2.2m/s (avg 2.6m/s) 210° SSW 4.9mph (avg 5.8mph) 210° SSW
Rain 45 sec rate 0.0mm/h rate 0.00in/h
Outdoor #1 38 sec -8.6°C 18% (dew -28.7°C, heat -8.6°C) 16.5°F 18% (dew -19.7°F, heat 16.5°F)
Indoor 3 sec 19.4°C 43% 1008.0hPa (987.0hPa) 66.9°F 43% 29.77inHg (29.15inHg)
I still don't see temperature data on wunderground. It's odd that the other sensors' data is updated properly at wunderground.

Problem is, that your primary outdoor sensor is not there. Looks like you replaced this with something else but this
is not recognized as "Outdoor" but as additional sensor "Outdoor #1".
Are you familar with SSH?
I could provide a script you can permanently install on your Meteobridge to have this
remapped. I didn't include sensor ID assignment functions to Meteobridge, because 99%
of users won't need it and playing with that is a large source of misconfiguration
(I have those experience from the Meteohub product).

To map "Outdoor #1" to default outdoor sensor you have to add a file "/root/myhook" with following content:
Code: Select all
#!/bin/sh
#
sed -i 's/.0@SENSORIDMAP \t\t0 3 1 1/.0@SENSORIDMAP \t\t0 3 1 0/g' /home/meteohub/logger.conf
sed -i 's/.0@SENSORIDMAP \t\t0 3 0 0/.0@SENSORIDMAP \t\t0 3 0 1/g' /home/meteohub/logger.conf
Please don't forget to make the file executable by "chmod a+x /root/myhook".
This hook will survive reboots but will not survive a complete system reset to defaults
(5 blinks reset as explained in getting started section of the wiki).

Do you have a white paper on what you are describing that includes a step by step? I didn't see any type of technical manual.
The WMR968 (as with most OS receivers) supports multiple channels for the outside sensors. I assume that is why Meteobridge sees it as outside #1. I only have one sensor set to channel 1.
I'm surprised that software that cost almost $100 doesn't work better than this and requires hacking at it.

Problem is, that your weather station does not report data for the primary outdoor temp sensor.
When you look at the console of your WMR-968 I doubt there will be data for outdoor temperature.
You have an ADDITIONAL temp sensor defined on channel 1 but this is not taken as the one
being reported to the weather networks. There are two ways to get this fixed.
1) The preferred one is to make your station fully operational by adding the primary
outdoor temp sensor to it (it looks different from the additional sensors). I don't know if
you lost this sensor physically or if it just needs a fresh battery.
2) If you can't get the primary outdoor temp sensor back to operation I can offer to
remap your additional sensor to be used instead of the primary sensor. This is a
special service to get you out of the problem. But I don't know if your additional
temp sensor is located outdoor and if you would like to have it used that way.
Please let me know, which way to go. When you send your Meteobridge MAC to
"info(at)meteobridge.com" I can do the login remotely and do the tweaking.
But better way would be to get your primary temp sensor back online.

I submitted the MAC address to the email address as you requested.
I'm using a Targus USB hub and have now lost the rain sensor in Meteobridge. The WMR968 sees the signal from the sensor. Seems like meteobridge still has a problem with this.

Nope. Meteobridge does not have a problem with your station at all.
Your placement of sensors (including outdoor sensor and rain sensor)
is the problem. The console just doesn't update and show outdated data,
while Meteobridge does tell you that you don't receive any data when
there has been nothing received in the last 5 minutes. Please get your
positioning of sensors fixed.
