Wind Speed, Direction and Gusts

I have a Acurite 5in1.
I'm still trying to get things looking right with the MeteoBridge device. I'm getting numbers that really shouldn't be, being sent up to WUnderground.
The first issue is the Wind Direction. Looking through some software forums and posting on others to find out how their software works, it appears the ones I did get answers back on send an AVERAGE wind direction up to WU. Right now, I have it set to update every 5 minutes to WU. It looks as if it sends the LAST reading up. If I pull this data down into XLS, most of the readings are correct but a bit of swirling takes place causing a few to be out of the norm. If i take the average reading of all readings in the past 5 minutes, it is accurate. But MB does not send that up. It appears to be sending the last value (or some combination that isn't correct). How does it determine direction? Is there some average? Is there any settings that can be changed to fix this?
I'm also noticing Wind Speed and Gusts are about 80% of the time, the same on WU. I'm not sure how it is determining this value to send to WU. If I go in and again, look at the data for the past 5 minutes, one would think it would send up the average of all readings in the past 5 minutes for wind speed. It would then take the MAX of those readings and send up as the Gust for that 5 minute interval. It doesn't look like that is happening.
Can anyone explain how it DOES do it? Is there anyway to change settings to make it calculate in the ways I mention above?
Thanks.
