Hello all, first post.

So I work at a large institution and our IT security has informed me that there have been multiple brute force attempts to hack the unit that is running meteohub. Is it possible to disable SSH and DNS on the box and retain functionality? They say the box is acting as a dns server and that if hacked, could be used to launch a DOS attack.

I only use the unit to receive sensor data and upload it to twitter and weather underground.

Are you talking about Meteohub or Meteobridge? You say Meteohub, but the mentioned twitter support is just available on Meteobridge, therefore I ask...

Why don't you put the Meteobridge/Meteohub behind a firewall and block external access to it by that? This is the obvious way to install those units. I would never recommend to put them somewhere fully exposed to the Internet, as you also would not do with a webcam, print server or other appliances in your LAN.
