MH Does Not Accept Complex Password for WU??

I changed my Weather Underground password to the following (don't worry, it isn't current): qZZ#8YzHar!dDr
This was accepted by my WU web UI login, but neither of my 2 MH boxes would update WU despite entering the PW 3 times into MH and Saving the settings.
Subsequently I changed the PW to a simpler string that did not include any symbols, and WU immediately started accepting MH transmissions.
Question: does MH ignore or filter complex passwords for WU?
