Hi - complete noob here.
I am trying to connect up a Davis Vantage Vue Weather Station to the internet.
I have the following:
1. Meteohub on a preconfigured SD card.
2.The SD card is plugged into Dreamplug
3. Cygwin installed on Windows XP (not sure why)
4. Wireless internet using WPA-PSK Tkip authentication
I switch on dreamplug and get a static blue (lhs) and green light (rhs)
I reset it then I get the dreamplug showing in my wirelss network list
I try entering 192.168.1.77 in firefox and get a connection timeout.
I do an ipscan from 192.168.1.1 - 192.168.1.199 but cant find dreamplug.
What am I doing wrong?
1. How do I open my Meteohub interface?
2. Do I need to plug the cat5 network cable into dreamplug and into my laptop to configure meteohub?
3. Do I need cygwin? What for?
Thanks

Re: Simple connection guide for Dreamplug needed
Is your dreamplug configured to handle the Meteohub SD card (as provided by newit.co.uk)?
Did you try reading the setup guide? http://wiki.meteohub.de/Setup_Guide
Have you thrown a look into the manual? http://www.meteohub.de/files/meteohub-v4.7en.pdf
Are you using the correct ethernet port of the Dreamplug? You have to use the unit in LAN mode first,
to setup wireless operation from there - unless you expect the Dreamplug to guess your specific wireless credentials

I have tried using LAN. Not sure which is the right socket I tried both. Which one is the right one? The one nearest the green LED or the one below it?admin wrote:Are you using the correct ethernet port of the Dreamplug?
When I plug it in it just says the LAN has limited or no connectivity - should I turn off the firewall or something?
I would appreciate some simple advice on how to find Dreamplug once I switched it on put in my SD card with meteohub preinstalled and then plugged it into my LAN socket.
thanks
Re: Simple connection guide for Dreamplug needed
Not sure if you just stated it a bit unprecise, but the SD card has to be inserted before power on.
The inner LAN connector is the one to use.
Your router will provide a log, where last issued IPs will be listed. You can also connect to 192.168.1.77
(if your browser is also in the 192.168.1.x subnet) or use a programm like "ipscan" to check for IPs.

Thanks
Should I plug the dreamplug into my laptop or into my router via the cat 5 cable?

Re: Simple connection guide for Dreamplug needed
I would plug it into the router, so that it receives an appropriate IP from your router via DHCP, is a regular part of your LAN and can also reach the Internet.
