Meteohub Software Download - Halted for a few days

Post by admin »

I just got notice that a low-level part of Meteohub software might conflict with GPL. I will solve this issue with the next update. Until then I have now disabled download of Meteohub software.

My intention is to be 100% in line with open source licenses, as I very much respect work protected by that.

As just a very small fraction of the code is impacted, I expect a new version being available in less than a week.

Sorry for any inconvenience.

Regards,
Boris

I was able to change the low level code to work without making use of the library that has special license conditions.

Update 2.3e is online for download again and now includes the new drivers. USB stick images 2.3 for 2 GB and 4 GB sticks are just being uploaded and will be available for download tomorrow, also including the new drivers.

Following updates and usb stick images will also be based on the new drivers.

Hi,
as the potential license issue is in my responsibility and not in yours, you don't have to update. From a functional point of view the two versions are identical. I just felt it being my obligation to replace the problematic code fragment immediately when i get knowledge of that and to stop distributing the old code.

If you wait for the next functional update and get the changes by that, this will be fine.

Hi Boris

So 2.3e is good to go again. Before I download, could you explain what sensor calibrations are available now? Rain/temp/atm pressure/wind?

All dimensions of all sensors can be calibrated by a linear polynom:

t: temp
th: temp hum dew
thb: temp hum dew pressure
wind: winds peed, wind direction
rain: rain rate, total rainfall
uv: index
sol: radiation

Update to 2.3e after having installed the 2.3 usb stick image.

I'm not yet able to apply the update, the result of my unfamiliarity with the file structure. From my Mac, using Safari, I've browsed to show Meteohub where the update file is located. I think I've done the same from the PC side of the Mac (using VMWare Fusion), and I've tried using the file method by planting the file in the data/transfer directory (although on my machine it appears to be \"public/transfer\". Meteohub told me the file had been transferred but that it could not update.

How long should the procedure take. How do I know when it succeeds? Does the system information page show \"Version 2.3e\" instead of \"Version 2.3\"? How do I see sunrise-sunset info, and some of the other changes?

I think there is some sort of bug once in awhile when you use the webpage update method. I too use a Mac and PC when doingmy updates. I just click the INSTALL button on the webpage two or three times until it decides to take it. Doing that has worked for me. Maybe it will for you too.

It's possible that I've succeeded, but don't know what changes on what pages to look for.

Hi

I am trying to install the 2.3e update using the web interface. According to my meteohub system page, I have version 2.3 . (So would that mean my USB stick image is OK?)
How long should it take to install? I saved the update file to my C:drive and then used the maintenance page/software update (web) and used \"browse\" to find the update file and then clicked \"install\".
After a brief period then the page goes white.
Am I doing this correctly?

looks like your web based install doesn't do.

Please try the file based method. How to do that is explained at the location where you can download the update.
