WeatherLink Mobile

Post by bretanhaii »

I've been uploading VantagePro 2 data for a couple of years to Awekas, wunderground and weatherlink using only a WeatherLink IP connection. The setup is simple, reliable, easy to maintain and does not require a dedicated PC. My club's website uses the Awekas page now, but I want to migrate to a meteohub setup using the Iomega IConnect. I am familiar with the limitation of the WeatherLink IP connection being able to feed either weatherlink or another program but not both simultaneously. After the migration I want to keep feeding data to weatherlink so that the IPhone WeatherLink Mobile app continues to work. Does meteohub's setup allow this or is there another mobile app that accepts meteohub data?

Hi I'm using Meteohub with an Envoy and WeatherlinkIP and at the same time also upload my data to Weatherlink. Generally speaking I'm not having issues. The connection to MH drops a couple of times a week, but MH is now-a-days able to recover, and will re-establish the link.

Thanks. I'll let the forum know how the transition works out.

I also use the Meteohub with two WLIPs connected to two Envoys. The Meteohub generally handles the WLIP well; however, there can be drop outs that the MH doesn't always correctly handle.

Problems I've seen:

I think the MH can cause slight delays (5-15) in the updates to wl.com at times.

There can be lock ups in the MH when the Davis site apparently refuses to accept WLIP updates and the WLIP won't quit trying to send the update. The MH then can't properly access the WLIP and is locked. This causes the system load to jump to extreme levels. At this point the MH becomes sluggish in its response to user commands. When this happens, I simply power cycle it and the problem is corrected. This means that you should check your weather stats at wl.com and at WU at least several times a day to watch for this lock up condition.

If you want to download WL data from the WLIP logger, you should stop the MH logging temporarily if you suspect that there will be more than 10-12 pages in the logger memory. The re-start the HM logging once WL downloads has finished.

All in all, the problems are minor (more at a nuisance level) and the MH works pretty well with the WLIP.

You should probably allow the MH to make updates to WU and AWEKAS rather than relying on the wl.com site to do so.
