ERROR 18005 EVEN AFTER PATH AND FILE NAME SHORTEN **solved**

Post by villiewe »

Error 18005 occurs during firmware upgrade of TL-MR3020 to meteobridge; even with very short file and path name or even with renaming meteobridge firmware upgrade to same name as real TL-MR3020 firmware upgrade file.

We had this error occuring in the past with some Meteoplug firmware images, but never with Meteobridge images. TP-LINK firmware did accept the images flawlessly so far. What piece of hardware do you have exactly? Is there a HW version number on the sticker at the bottom?

No H/W number: SN. is 13675402152. Used Firefox browser since Internet Explorer would not connect

The status button provides the info: MR3020v1 00000000
Should I go through MR3020 setup first? What boxes do I check?

Please try updating to latest TP-Link firmware before trying to flash Meteobridge firmware.

Is it a brand new unit or somthing you purchased used and might be older?

I updated the tp-link using latest firmware this morning, then tried the meteobridge firmware update, and still got the same error.

I also switched browser to Internet explorer and got the same error

Also, it appears to be a new unit from Amazon, although judging from the HW described as version 1 00000000 suggests it may not be new after all. What is the highest HW version you have seen?

Good News and Bad News:

I down loaded your meteobridge firmware meteobridge-tl-mr3020-v1.2.bin again, but this time I did not shorten the name before upgrading. This time I did not get the 18005 error and the meteobridge firmware updated to past 100% but then the PC froze.

I had to reboot, but now I cannot get to the address 192.168.0.254. I guess the device may now be bricked because I did not get a proper restart after 100% update.

Ok, I don't think the naming does have an impact, but the first download might be corrupted for some reason (md5sum might have told us).
I am also very sure that it is NOT bricked. When rebooting as Meteobridge it is in DHCP client mode on the LAN and receives an IP from there. Please read the wiki how to go on: http://meteobridge.com/wiki/index.php/G ... Findout_IP

OK thanks.

You are correct. The meteobridge shows up on the router device list as 192.168.0.112.

Now i can go through the setup directions from "Ambient Weather WeatherBridge Universal Weather Station Server User Manual"
since it uses the same device?

Ambient Weather Station is WS-2080A

From Wikipedia:

"On first login you will be guided to "License" tab, where you have to accept license terms and have to press "Save and Apply" before you can navigate to the other tabs"

After supplying credit card details and getting a confirmation, I never did the see the save and apply button, I think because I did not say no thanks to registering with paypal and then "continue" By the time I realized this, the "no thanks" and "continue" options had expired.

Email regarding my credit card payment never arrived so I presume transaction was cancelled, but I cannot be sure.

Sorry, that your PayPal experience was not as expected. But I can assure you that no transaction has been done. I checked that immediately after receiving your email about the problem.

You had a hick-up somehow with a bit more complicated PayPal scenario that has a need for entering credit card information etc (which I guess just applies to non Paypal users). However, Meteobridge application behaved as expected and did not charge until transaction is completely done. So please give it a second try (without timeout) or contact "info(at)meteobridge.com" to find an alternative way of payment.
