TL-MR3020 Ver 1.8

Post by joe002 »

I just received v1.8. I haven't opened the box yet. Will it work OK (the hardware section only indicates it's tested up to version 1.7).

Thanks

I must have a fundamental misunderstanding how this works. I'm just in the "Getting Started" section for the TL-MR3020.

I plugged the 3020 via the Ethernet cable into my network, but I don't see 192.168.0.254 on my wired computer. Is 192.168.0.254 only available via a wireless connection?

Also, there's a switch on the box: 3G/4G, WISP, AP. I've tried WISP and AP - no luck. How am I supposed to configure it?

Sorry, this seems like a really basic problem that I'm not understanding.

Follow the steps that TP-Link is giving you to reach the web interface of the unit.
They might have described that better than we do in our wiki. Unless TP-Link does have
special tools provided on a CD etc it will need your browsing PC to be in the same
class C subnet, namely 192.168.0.x. So you might have to change IP of your PC
in a first step to get to there. But as said, until you flash it, it is up to TP-Link
to explain all the ways to get access to it.

OK, I'll fight with it again tonight. The printed instructions are something like 3 point font and very hard to read. I'll try the documentation that came on the CD.

1. Version 1.8 of the TL-MR3020 should be OK, correct?

2. Once I flash it with meteobridge I'll be able to access it via the wired Ethernet cable, correct?

Great, thanks for the quick response.

Hopefully I'll get past this initial problem quickly and move on.

Maybe you want to update the web site to say you support up to V1.8?

Just got a v1.8 last week and had it running meteobridge in less than hour following instruction beginning with "getting Started" section... v1.8 is good! The only thing I did different from instructions, and not sure if it made a difference, was set switch on side of unit to AP mode.

Thanks for the feedback. With the help of another user I finally got it running too. It's easy when you know the secret sauce. :)
