Inconsistent hum reading since adding MeteoStick **solved**

Post by Sledgeek »

I added the MeteoStick to my MR-3020 last week and since that time I am getting inconsistent behavior in reading humidity values. As you can see on CWOP - http://www.findu.com/cgi-bin/wxpage.cgi ... 6&last=240 there is a significant drop in humidity lasting a random amount of time.

Currently my Vantage Pro 2 displays reads 95% yet my Meteohub is reporting 28% to both CWOP and wUnderground.

I went ahead and updated the MeteoStick from version 1.4 to 1.6. I will wait a few days and see if the problem reoccurs.

Looks as if the problem is still occuring. Current humidity on the Vantage display is 93%, and Meteobridge w/Meteostick is reporting 27%. Rebooted device and to saw no change, more than likely it will continue reading low for a couple more hours then return to normal.

Meteostick v1.6
Meteobridge 2.2 (4039) FW 1.4

Just to make sure I understand your question:

Are you talking about outside or inside humidity?

This is for outside humidity. Inside humidity on the Meteostick is hardcoded to 30% as far as I understand.

That was the reason why I asked. Sometimes people use the wrong tag. just wanted to be polite.

The upload to CWOP is done by Meteobridge and we have no influence on the selection of the tag to be uploaded.

There are just two questions left:
Does that abnormal drop in humidity from 90% to 26% , as today on 20140626101346 UTC, occurs daily?
and
Does it show in the Live Data tab?

It could be a sensor failure also.

The humidity drop being sent from Meteobridge to CWOP and WUnderground is occuring on a daily basis, this has been occuring since switching from my WeatherlinkIP to Meteostick.
Does it show in the Live Data tab?
Within the Live Data tab the value of 26% is shown. However, the Vantage Pro 2 display is displaying 90% humidity outside. Based on other personal weather stations within the area, the humidity is closer to 90%.

Question:
As the drop is occuring daily, what is your WU station ID.
Just to see what the time-of-day it is when this occurs and if it occurs more or less at the same time every day.

The drop in humidity is to big to have a natural cause. We do not know how the console program itself reacts to such a big drop. It could ignore those values as being probably in error and display the "last good data" instead.

What I did to test the meteobridge was to connect it to my Mac and display the data using the terminal program.
So I saw all the raw data from multiple ISS arraving.

To be 100% sure that the "error" is in Meteobridge and not in the data stream from the ISS, maybe you could test with the Meteostick connected to a pc/mac and see the values on your display yourself, if that is possible in terms of time and equipment.

Or someone else maybe has a better idea?
Or maybe Boris has time to look into this?

I have sent over my MAC address for further analysis. We will see if anything comes of this.

Thanks for all your help.

We went quite a few days without any inconsistencies, however this morning it is back. Meteobridge is reporting 28% humidity and the Vantage Pro 2 display is reporting 94%.

Right now the station seems to report correctly again,so I cannot examine what caused this.
I added code to catch the bad packet causing this, next time it occurs.

I just see that your UV reading is also way off (19.9 UVI). Very strange... Do you have an UV sensor applied
or this just nonsense phantom data your ISS is sending out?

This is just garbage data that must be coming from the ISS. I have a Solar Sensor but do not have a UV Sensor.

May be some dust, moisture or insects inside the ISS that give false readings. This is now filtered out by most recent SW update.
