BETA tester for "Meteobridge Virtual Vantage" welcome *DONE*

Post by admin »

Up to now there was no option to connect a PC running a weather program AND a Meteobridge to your Vantage or Envoy.
You had to decide which system is connected. With the newest Meteobridge BETA code a Vantage or Envoy
connected to a Meteobridge via USB or TCP/IP can also be shared to your PC program.

For the PC the Meteobridge acts like a WLIP data logger. Just insert the Meteobridge IP and connection
port 22222 to your PC programm and sharing of the Vantage starts. Only one PC can connect to the
Meteobridge.

If you have a Vantage and a Meteobridge and are interested to test this, please send the MAC of your Meteobridge
to "info(at)meteobridge.com" and you can join this BETA program.

Beside sharing the Davis Logger this also can make the logger visible in your WiFi network as Meteobridge is a WiFi device.

Update. Working well - Meteobridge is now sending data from my Vantage Pro 2 to WeatherCat running on a PC as well as sending it to WU, Meteoplug, etc. :D

I too have had success with the new beta. Currently passing data to WU and now also to WeatherCat running on an older Mac mini. I've never used WeatherCat before (or any other weather program), so lots of options to figure out and set up, but the raw data seems to be flowing well.

Will this feature be loaded automatically on the MeteoBridge when the beta test will be over?

Hi,

Tested with Weatherlink. No succes. Inserted the MAC address of the Meteobridge in comm settings > IP.

Hitting [TEST] > "Communication error found. Check settings and try again" appears.

WL not supported?

Albert.

I had to do some changes with the beta code. When you reboot now,
working code should be installed again. Please give it a try.

Hi,

Tested with 2.5.
Same error when using "Local device ID" setting with manually inserteing MAC address.
Tried Remote IP address. Error: Cannot establish connection since port is already in use. Please disconnect the device and try again.

So, still no succes.

If you want, you can still login to the bridge as per the link provided earlier this week.

Regards,
Albert.

Looks like I don't understand much of the Weatherlink program. To my understanding
the "Remote IP Address" option has to be used inside Weatherlink. Device ID
will nor work as Weather Link is then looking for MACs issued by Davis.

As I can't find the weather link installation CD that came once with my Davis logger, I can't try myself.

There was an error in my build chain. Fixed and 2.5 newly generated.
Please reboot your Meteobridge and it should work now.

I've been running the beta build for four days and everything appears to be working fine. I have had to re-boot the Mac mini which is running the WeatherCat software, which had been configured to received the Meteobridge data via port 22222. Upon WeatherCat restarting, it attempts to download historical records and it fails on record 38 of 512. WC then re-starts the dowload, again failing on record 38. It continues this cycle until I am required to force-quit WC.

To make matters worse, WC is unusable during this time; no results from clicks on menus or windows that are in the background.

The current weather data IS getting through, as the background windows show up-to-date wind speed and temperature.

The WeatherCat folks have asked me to examine the data logger historical logs to see if I can figure out what is happening on or around record 38 that is blocking the WC import. I see by viewing the "Live Data" tab in Meteobridge that I have the option of deleting all historical data which may work as a last resort. I would, however, prefer to view the logs directly or export them to try and find what might be the problem.

So, my questions are:

How can I directly view and/or edit the historical data logs?

How can I export the historical data logs?

Will clearing all historical data most likely solve my problem with WC attempting to import historical data?

Given that WC is actually communicating with the Meteobridge, not directly with the data logger cable, could this be the source of the problem?

My setup:

Mac mini 1,2 (Mac OS X 10.7.5, 4GB RAM, 80 GB hard disk)
WeatherCat 2.0.2 software
connected to Davis Vantage Pro2 console via Meteobridge 2.5 (5602) via IP port 22222
